I remember clicking on Windows XP Tour by mistake in 2010. Then I experienced a wonderful trip through the operating system, and it helped me discover its secrets. It also made me curious of what other Windows OS’s there are, so I started studying about them and making some research. Jesus, Windows XP had the best OOBE of any operating system, even today. When you set up something like Windows 7 or 10, it;s the basic "type in your name and password" and they give you a half-assed tutorial of how to use your new computer. Something along the lines of "move your mouse to the corner". Windows XP gave you a well organized tour of the O.S., complete with pictures and music. Windows 10 doesn't even have a startup sound. But I think we can all agree that Windows XP had the scariest sound effects of any O.S.

I remember finding a glitch that let you "erase the window" in Microsoft paint. I was so exited when I found it and all I did for ages was play around with it, drawing little theatres and putting windows media player behind it. The way you did it was take a screenshot of a video playing in media player, and pasting it directly into paint. Then it would show up as a purple looking colour. If you used the colour picker on it and drew, it would essentially allow you to draw a sort of transparency, that would act as a hole through to whatever was behind.
@wordart_guian5 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, I remember it, it was super weird. Maybe it was a weird kind of copy protection.
@Robciomixxnfs4 жыл бұрын
Oh yes! I used to do the exact same thing! When I was a kid, I was really fascinated with movie making and TV. I drew little theatres too, but I also drew TV station logos, so it looked like I'm watching a real TV on my PC. I used to record my own "tv show", and then put the camera in front of my screen with poorly drawn Disney Channel, or just a local TV station logo. The color that was used for that transparency effect was #100010. I found out about this "glitch", when I wanted to make a screenshot of a video I recorded, but then I realised it would not save the video frame, it would save that purple color instead.

Achingly beautiful. It makes me happy because it reminds me of warm and innocent childhood days, but it also makes me sad knowing the type of world this delicate and pastoral music suggests is either gone, or it never existed, and I’m never sure which is true. It feels more like it existed and is now gone. The world is a different place now. Social media has ushered in a new era in the early part of the last decade,but at what cost? Humanity has arguably regressed. The future doesn’t seem to be as bright as it once was. I miss the days where I could experience this tour of Windows XP without a care in the world. To be able to go back would be pure ...bliss.

I've been a Windows kid all my life ever since Windows XP I hate End of Life and the policy writers at Microsoft I am not upgrading this time from Windows 10 I plan on emulating my games if Steam cuts support and moving back to console gaming I can just back up physical copies and play on computer. I am getting back into retro gaming from being a kid this is so relaxing and I thank you for the upload and all you guys do to support Windows XP and older Windows I will always prefer older Windows over newer Windows to me there's no difference running Linux or Windows so I am staying with Windows until the end anyone else doing the same?

So you think windows xp is just another operating system of the Windows Family? Well, look deeper: Windows XP is by far the most USER FRIENDLY OS you have ever used. There is a tour to show you what to do, and the NEWEST WINDOWS DON'T HAVE THAT! And if you think about it, Windows XP is like a dream, listening to peaceful music, while watching the tour, and the beautiful wallpaper, nature picture, and the awesome GUI which looks much better than all other OS I have ever used. The sound effects are refreshing, and most of the error sounds remind you of your childhood and imagine; When opening it, you are greeted by a LOOOOOONG sound, basically saying, WELCOME TO WINDOWS XP! It is calming and relaxing. The windows 7 startup sound is nothing compared to windows xp, 98, 95 startup sounds. I can go on and on, but this will be too long, so all I have to say is: Windows XP is the best of the Windows family. Period.

+EvilChief Productions Yeah but XP also had some problems: - Slow - Ugly GUI by default. - Unstable at times (even with SP3, SP2 wasn't that bad, even some betas were not that buggy) - Basically unsupported by Microsoft since 2009 (minus security updates.) - Life cycle lasted far too long (compared to 2000 and what Vista will have) - Overrated piece of crap. - The little kids in the comments section literally like 'oh windows 8 sucks cos it's not xp.' or 'oh microsoft killed xp cos they wanted windows 8 to get attention' or 'windows 7 sucks...' etc Although you do have reasonable points, it's pretty nostalgic, even for me, but XP ran like shit on my E-System.

+Luigi2012SM64 Don't being crazy. lol Windows XP is just too old to meet todays peoples/business requirements. Windows XP was (and still is) the best and *most* stable OS of Microsoft after Windows 2000. The thing is that, nobody can experience the same on a new computer as on old one. Your computer is just too new to run such a OS. If you got an old computer and see the real Windows XP experience, you were going to say that "Windows 7, 8 and even 10 sucks". lol And about "-slow", it is your own fault that you were trying to run it on a computer ment to be running Windows 98. And about "-Ugly GUI by default.", everyone have his own option. I personally think that Windows XP GUI is the best, but hey, why the themes were released for? Windows XP for Ever!
@LoogiTheDino9 жыл бұрын
Alex Aleksandrov It was not the most stable OS, ever. It was buggy on the RTM release, and even SP3 has a lot of bloat in it. (SP2 was alright, never tried sp1) Have you not heard of virtual machines? duh I was using an e-system computer from like 2005/6 that came with xp *cough* home edition *cough*, and it kept crashing. Even whistler's watercolour/professional theme was better. Fuck FailBlows eXPired. Win2KFan oh look win2kfan.
@Alex-ru8ed9 жыл бұрын
***** You can't and will never can experience the same on Virtual Machine as on Main OS. Who the hell decides whatever os is bad or good on Virtual Machine. lol I get BSOD 7 times on my Windows 7 Virtual Maching, but that doesn't means that Windows 7 isn't stable! Think about it and again Windows XP for Ever!

DAMN IT, This reminds me of when I was 5 years old, my parents got me an IBM thinkpad t40 with windows xp and I grew up with my IBM and i always loved messing around, listening to the error sounds and sound effects and playing with it over all, I had it until April 8, 2014, when windows xp finally ended support, I now have a macbook pro and I so damn miss the old days, I always cry thinking bout when I let my IBM go. :(

Windows XP must be back in the future! They must have the same features as the new Windows 10 or 11, but same mechanics, new and improved sounds with the same old sounds, yet remastered, a new tour, with the same tour music, the same Bliss wallpaper you guys know it today, the same startup and shutdown sounds, the same error sound, the same design, Clippy, same, yet remastered games, same UI but with a little remaster and installation. We must start a campaign to bring back Windows XP from the dead!

I do too since I first used an HP Pavilion 710 CTO PC with Windows XP Home Edition on it (which I used to have until 2004 due to technical problems) back in 2002. I also remember the HP Tour Guide (a Microsoft Agent based program that features Victor as its character) and some classic WildTangent games that were pre-loaded on it, like Speedway and the trial versions of Virtual Warfare, SabreWing 2 and Gem Master 2. The music sounds great and relaxing. To this day, I still like using Windows XP and its tour program on actual computers and in virtual machines in Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and VirtualBox.

Totally used it all the time. Family gets stuck not knowing how to do something, phone guided them through sending me a request with that, remote / VNC-like interface let me just do it for them while they could still see the screen and learn. It was fucking awesome. It got gamed eventually though by phishing scammers... too many people were dumb and sending the requests to strangers in the later years.

+A Boy and his Pentium Because when Vista was current, it was still common to have only around 1gig of RAM, which just wasn't enough, plus before the service packs driver issues were very common, so the stigma of it being a bloated flakey piece of shit stuck. With 2+gigs of RAM and the service packs installed, Vista is a solid OS.

I remember being in Kindergarten in 2013 not knowing much about computers at all and seeing a Smart board for the first time. I was interested how you could touch the screen and it would respond on the computer so a few days before Christmas, my mom gave me her old Asus netbook running Windows XP Home and I clicked on the tour playing around on it. It got me interested in computers and I learned more about them and fast forward 9 years I'm a computer geek with a Tech KZbin Channel. I would not have my great computer knowledge if it wasn't for the Smart Board and the Netbook.

blakedmc1989RaveHD It's not supported by Microsoft anymore, meaning your games will run even slower on a XP machine. I know it sucks to change from something you love, but being in denial makes it worse. This is why i just accept things and move on: While i miss Windows XP, it is true that it's impratical for nowadays tasks, and it's just outdated software.

I used a mac (don't hate me) so I have no personal nostalgia for XP, but reading the comments, listening to the music, and reading about the OS, instills memories I never had, giving me nostalgia that feels so real. Maybe thats the best type of Art, a piece of art that brings people together, to form a community that can incite members based on the pureness of the art itself. The memes the music, the screenshots even (especially) the errors bring people together like nothing else can. Long Live XP
