I was a 4yr old boy when u took me and my 2 brothers in. Now losing you as a grown man at 45yrs old. I want to credit you and thank u for helping me become the man i am today. You were never a step father but a man who stepped up. I just want to call you father. Goodbye for now, until we meet again.

I was raised by my Dad and he passed away in 2020 an hour before Father’s Day(88 years old)He raised 5 kids and spent 24 years in the Army. He helped take care of his sisters when they where in college and my Mom and Sisters never were without. I pray that I’m following the examples he laid out and raising my 3 sons the way he raised me. Strong and Fair with Love. Miss you Dad

Born into an age where radio was in its' infancy, he lived to see television, computers, space flight, and the internet. My stepson, who is 6yrs old, dedicated this song to me, and i damned near broke down and cried cause i was stunned. He’s 10 now, and he corrected me, said, “i don’t want to be your stepson, i wanna be your son” so i adopted him, and boy DID I BREAK DOWN! Here’s why. Comes home from work, wife fixed me a good meal, then he handed me an envelope, wife told me read it out loud, and the adoption was final, and while reading it, he hugged n kissed me said, “i love you dad”! Couldn’t hold back, and he made me proud of him He’s 14 now, and my wife and I are so proud of him, and everytime he calls me dad, I have a glow about me, and smile, and he tells the world that I’m his dad, but don’t ever call me stepdad, or else you’ll have to deal with him

My first husband couldn't handle being the father of a special needs son so we divorced. A lot of men aren't willing to get involved in a relationship with the single mom of a special needs son but 24 years after my divorce one did and we got married. He couldn't adopt my son since he was legally an adult but he did do the next best thing and willingly became my son's legal co-guardian. My son is 99% non-verbal, but on his own, he started using the word "da" (dad) when this wonderful man entered our lives. This song made "da" cry the first time I played it for him.

I have 3 grown sons now and their children.I think the world of all of them, along with that,I have a biological daughter that I love with all my heart, and her family. We never know how life will take us down through trials and tribulations, but if we let the father in heaven guide us, every will eventually be alright. Back to the boys I helped raise, the oldest was starting college, and the other 2 were 15 and 12. They have never been disrespectful to me and I appreciate it so much. It's kinda like, they took me in as well, and it's been a wonderful life. My late mother told me to never lay a hand on them, and that's the way it is, and they made my job easy,by respecting me.

He told me things on how to be a real man, and today what he said was true. My mother loved him and without him she would have not known what to do and got far with out him, I just wish that I could go back thru the time tunnel and start all over again and spend much time as I should have with this man, MAT JOHNSON

What a beautiful song. This should be on the airwaves now so that the new generation can hear it and relate cause what a father is will never change , mine left when I was 5 I’m 62. It never goes away but today I’m a father and have raised 2 of the best children a father could have , I think both of my children would say this song fits me in their eyes. It would be nice and a wonderful thought that all the kids growing up today or raising children could hear it and relate. Call your local station and request it. Many lives will be touched. I heard it 7-8 ya ago and it’s one of my favorites and I play it regularly

One of the best Father’s Day tunes ever. This won a Grammy in 1969. The B-Side is “Amen, Brother,” most famous for being the origin of the classic and oft-used sample known as the “Amen Break.”

My Dad raised my brother, sister and myself. He passed from this life and into legend on Apr 16, 2009, one month after his 89th birthday. Born the grandson of slaves, he served with distinction, in the 92nd Division, in Italy, during WW2. He lived history. Born into an age where radio was in its' infancy, he lived to see television, computers, space flight, and the internet. He taught us that pride is determined by how well you respect yourself and how well you respect others. He had always told us that whatever you do in life, be sure you "make a difference". I see, now, that he was right.

Before we heard that ultimate Mother's Day classic, "Sadie," we had this ultimate Father's Day classic; recognizing that rare breed of husband and father so sorely missed and needed today.

ooook bc I'm from "The Most Sampled Song in Hip Hop" (it's not this one 😏) and the creator listed this as the most sampled song. now I know but OMIGOD I never knew this A side ..I'm crying from all the gratitude excised here esp. as I'm just nearing 2 yrs past the time I lost mine. Also bc I almost became one thru adoption and was ready to call a young AA man my son. much love and be well

Happy Father's Day, Daddy. I visited your grave today. Though you died 10 years ago this October, 2 days after your 91st year on earth, I remember everything so vividly. Mama was taken away from us when I was 12, but you never missed a beat. You were there for me until the end. When you could not get out of bed on your own or even get in bed, you were there for me. I will miss you until we are together again. I love you, Daddy.

It's Father's day again and I've been in love with this song since I was seven. I often think of my Father on two occasions for the Month of June. His birthday is June 13th, and father's day within a few days. My emotions are very touching, but I thank God I had My Father in my life.Happy Father's day to all Father's known and Unknown from me,

My “Dad” married my Mom when I was 2 1/2. I now have 6 1/2 brothers (no sisters) . Life has been an adventure to say the least , now at 71 I’m still amazed at what The Lord has shown our family. He got saved on his death bed 31 yrs ago……… Yes ! God is good all the time; even when we can’t see it. Thank You Dad
