Perfect summary for this event. I have a ton of respect for MooingCat and the amount of time and hard work he puts into helping everyone on every event is to be commended. But I much prefer the brevity and concision of your videos. I'm not fussed about the main event building. My main goal is to get enough Nutcrackers to generate a mass self-aid kit each day. If I can get that, I'm a happy bunny.

You need 30 fragments, so 15 nutcrackers. With the level 2 nutcrackers, you only need 10. And I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)

For new players like myself who have never done the winter event before the 'basics' of the game needs more explanation up front, like 'open presents at random, which cost 10 starts per present (I was unaware of the cost until I actually opened one), and here are all the methods to gather more stars (I still don't know) and how long does it takes to gather those first 160 stars before starting to open presents.' When first mentioning "currency" at the 0:23 point, define what those those currencies are (stars? keys?) for when we hear their names later. After that discuss present opening strategy, the impact of the special gifts, then discuss the rewards. This seems like an excellent video for those who have done the event before but after going through the video twice I'm still confused on how to approach this event and will need to look around for additional advice before taking my first run-through.

3:07 Reaching 460 Progress is also contingent on using most of your stars on only one or two days. If you are trying to open the Calendar or otherwise spending as you earn, your final progress will be a fair bit lower, probably closer to 420 progress. (This again assumes completing the questline and logging in daily to get as many free stars as possible.)

Quite honestly, it's most dependent on you completing boards through to completion and getting that shuffle. But yeah, calendar is antagonist to progress and daily specials

0:25 "you do not need to play daily" - except that you DO need to at least claim the daily login reward Stars, to get maximum progress (and maybe even the Chocolatery golden upgrade). You don't need to (and shouldn't) play the MINIGAME daily.

6:23 I'm confused about the low chance of the single "finish special production" compared to the "finish all special production". I've always seen the "finish all ..." together with the golden nog shop within one pool. So they should have the same chance.

Apologies! I have the finish special and finish all items switched. The finish special should be 0.375, the finish all should be 0.0625.

There is no way to reset the board right? If you are going for Daily Special, and you get it on one board, it seems like you have to keep opening presents until you get the shuffle in order to have a shot at another daily special. Is this correct? Or am I missing something? Thanks

Nutcracker is only avalaible from winter 2023 selection kit, and from calendar, but its not solo in daily specials right? Just in winter selection kit which is in dailys specials

Probably not - there isn't any skill involved in this event, so any league differences is mostly just based on RNG or spending.

Hi Ubernerd, Thanks for your videos which are very helpfull. Have you made the calculation of stars we can get while playing the boards? Last year Mooingcat gave a ratio of 1.37 for the initial amount of stars to be played, is it still the same for 2023 event? (I guess there is a change with the key appearance and then the 10 stars given when the daily is already won).

Not sure what ratio you're talking about, but you should get 2220 stars from the quests, and average about 8 stars per present opened.

Question: To build a key for the calendar using diamonds it’ll cost 100 diamonds. Does anyone know if the second key costs more than 100 diamonds?

Each key piece costs 100 diamonds. Each key requires 5 fragments (or finding the full calendar key for that day by playing the minigame), so each key is 500 diamonds. I'm assuming you've already got 4/5 of the fragments, so the cost is only 100 for that key.

I’m a little confused. What’s the point of saving for one specific day when you can only get 1 daily special from the presents, and 1 from the door. What am I missing? Why am I saving all my stars to get 1 selection kit of some daily special? Might as well play every day and try to get lucky with finishing the calendar. If I fail, no harm because I missed out on literally 1 selection kit. I’m convinced I’m not connecting the dots somewhere. It’s not like it’s the Halloween event where I can use all my currency on one day and get the daily special over and over.

You can play more than one board per day and get the daily multiple times... so in that regard it is like the Halloween Event. You aren't restricted to one daily special per day But the reason to focus on one day is that, should you find the calendar key, it will start giving a key fragment and 10 stars too. Not to mention, if you try to complete the calendar, you'll probably fail and also get very few daily specials that you want. The key only has a 50% chance of appearing on any given board.

They don't change? You get 2 pools per elf. You can refresh the rewards from each pool, but you can't get an entirely new pool until you finally choose one of the items and get a new elf.

I'm glad you like it, but can I ask why? To me it's a whole month of doing nothing but the event quests and daily quests for keys for a calendar I'll not open and then randomly selecting tokens for 1 day. It's all random and no skill. However things like the wildlife event are great and reward those that play better, or the St Patricks one rewards people who play more often. There's some actual engagement like it is a game and not a scratch ticket.

The prizes in this event are the best. Doesn't seem to be as many outdated items. I suspect that's b/c there's no game requirement to play daily. So they hope to entice your engagement via good prizes.

You mentioned that all stars should be spend on last day not any day, as you will get 10 extra stars from the second time you get key, but if you spend key fragments received from daily challenge you can spend your stars aswell that day as the 1st key you get will also be with fragments and 10 stars, understand?
