@@tradez401 I think the issue was the time was spent between the police, the docks, the projects and now the Greeks when the first season was just the projects and the police. The third season was projects and police again with some of the greek in there. Fourth season was the kids and police but half of the kids dads were in Barksdales crew. That moment is meant to show the very opposite I think. She's a hard core biatch most of the time. She's a million miles from almost every other female character in the show, but right at that moment, she's just like every other girl, concerned about how pretty she looks. What's even more powerful is that Mike recognises this and allows her that moment as it will be her last.
@vanillathunder30243 жыл бұрын
@@davidlean1060 you’re right...it showed a glimpse of her humanity. What I meant was how cold blooded she was in the face of imminent death. No begging, no pleading, just accepting that this was her end. “You look good, girl” was the perfect response from Mike. All in all this was a well written, well acted, powerful scene.
@davidlean10603 жыл бұрын
@@vanillathunder3024 It's a brilliant little scene for sure. You learn so much about her and Mike. I felt kinda sorry for her right there and then, not because she was getting clipped, she fully deserved that given the rules of the game, but because she probably never had a chance of a decent life. I imagine she was no different to all the other young hoppers, dragged into the game at an age when she wasn't smart enough to resist.

@@davidlean1060 fascinating how many ppl took it as her reverting to some feminine stereotypes, hardcore projecting your own assumptions for no reason lol. Snoop's death still gets to me. She was one of the hardest characters in the show... and her final line was asking how her hair looked. She knew (like all of the soldiers there) growing up in the game that she could die early. Maybe she even envisioned it happening growing up (and so when this happened, it wasn't the worst way to go out and she accepted it quickly). But Snoop was still a human, a woman, no matter how much of a cold killer they made her out to be. Snoop finally showed a sensitive side to her, wanting to look good before dying; and it also made it seem like Michael did know more about her that wasn't shown on screen in that she was a human with emotions, and he told her she looked good without hesitation before killing her. Like man, to ask something as vulnerable as how she looked before dying just pulls on the heart string and is one of the reasons why this show was so damn good. Even the hardest gangster in the show was just doing it to get by... she wasn't a comic book villain, but rather just a human trying to survive in her world.

It also shows how much of a disconnect there is between life in the streets and life in the establishment. Even the cops had not a clue until they got out of their patrol cars and started going under cover and getting sources. They were suprised at how bright they were. They might not have had degrees and creditials, but they knew how to survive for a little while in their environment.

Look at that moron bodie, gets popped because of pride, look at that moron cheese, gets popped for greed and lack of loyalty, look at that moron marlo, gets taken down from being cocky and greedy. The one thing that makes me have a next level hatred for Marlo's crew is because they remained so cool and never stopped having heart of stones even in the face of their own death. Never showing a shred of fear or remorse. Some would call that admirable but personally that shit is what freaks me out the most. I'm much more comfortable with the guys in the Barksdale crew (apart from Bird) who had a shred of remorse.

I've watched sopranos .. I've watched oz .. and I wanna get into this... that's the fuggin trifecta of ass kicking tv shows that ran through the 2000's .. all brilliant shows .. great stuff .. dramatic ..dynamic and cinematic ..
@james-tennis4 жыл бұрын
Definitely watch The Wire and don't miss Boardwalk Empire either. While I liked Sopranos and Oz, the "can't wait to watch the next episode" factor wasn't there for me as much (not like the binge worthiness of shows like Breaking Bad)... And, to me Oz just had too much unbelievable stuff (like a guard dying each episode and no repercussions happening lol). Wire and Boardwalk Empire are 2 of the best series out there as they have it all! You'll still be thinking about it after watching an episode; such good stuff unlike the vast majority of netflix/amazon/hulu exclusives these days.

I know it will never happen, but there should be a one hour single episode made that shows what happens to everyone. I've been watching it since last year and it's the greatest show to ever be made in the history of television. I saw the last episode tonight on the Audience Network on Direct TV which had shown all 5 seasons one episode a week. Omar's death actually got spoiled for me cause Eminem mentioned it in a song.
