That’s one interpretation… & I think I like it better then my own. However my own could coincide with yours, and he could have been giving double meanings. I think it was in Iceberg Slim's autobiography that he talked about how there was a badass dude in Brooklyn or Queens who everyone knew was a badass, and he would do shit like this. But one day he tried to do that to a young kid (~20) who didn't know anything about him. So the kid killed him, and that was it. Respect didn't make the dude bulletproof.

Yeah, it's amazing how he was developed. He was a gangster celebrity for being so ruthless and dangerous, but he was pretty mild mannered most of the time. It was just that whenever he did get angry or murderous, he was the most dangerous man in Baltimore. His reputation was his greatest weapon, until even that couldn't protect him from the little shit

noooooooooooooooooo most tv shows make their gay characters uninteresting and weaker than the other characters. I think this is because they have the idea to have a gay character and then try to fill in other characteristics. I think that the wire already made their characters and then decided to make some of them gay. I like kima a lot and I love Omar. Never had another show that a gay character was my favorite because of how uninteresting they are compared to others

+magetaaaaaa What I find a bit odd about this, is that even if they just had a simple gun, which I'm sure they must have had, they could have just picked him off while he stood outside with his back turned.
@magetaaaaaa
@magetaaaaaa 9 жыл бұрын
Giradox No one had a gun when he initially robbed them, and I don't recall seeing guns in the pit at any other time. It's possible that they don't carry them simply because the police show up often and without warning, and a gun is a charge they don't want to risk. Earlier in the season they were trying to get Omar on a gun charge, but he was too smart and predicted it and was clean when they went for him. He packs a LOT of heat, but he can risk it, because he comes and goes within minutes and is a lot less likely to get caught.
@Asidders
@Asidders 9 жыл бұрын
I see, thanks :)
@magetaaaaaa
@magetaaaaaa 9 жыл бұрын
Another issue is that it effects business. Earlier in the show Dee said that they police come around for the bodies, not for the drugs. If they had shot Omar right then and there, that might have brought serious heat down on that location, an investigation, more police stakeouts. A death at the pit would take a serious toll on sales I would imagine. If someone killed Omar, the police would be looking for that person, and a murder charge is far beyond anything those guys would normally get stuck with on an average day. We saw this earlier in the season when they went and grabbed everyone, and that one cop got punched. They tried to threaten that one guy with five years if he didn't cooperate, he just laughed and said he'd take the five. You won't see anyone laughing off a life sentence, they'll talk to get a deal. Barksdal and Stringer know this, and so they probably keep the pit workers unarmed.

I remember in one scene, Omar walks around wearing a silk robe and no weapon. He walks and rest his back on a wall with a pack of cigarettes and a second later, a bag of drugs falls to his side. The scene had no dialogue but the intimidation was evident. Awesome!! 😂😂🤗👍👏
@Bringthewinter
@Bringthewinter 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I remember that scene. He was walking around the kitchen looking for a weapon to bring with him but his gun was too big to fit. But I think he grabs a kitchen knife or something. All for some cereal. Most shows (bad ones) wouldn’t have taken the time to film this scene or would have cut it for not being “needed.” But this show really took the time to flesh out its characters. Which is why it is still the best drama I have ever seen. R.I.P Omar.
