I think it was in Iceberg Slim's autobiography that he talked about how there was a badass dude in Brooklyn or Queens who everyone knew was a badass, and he would do shit like this. +magetaaaaaa What I find a bit odd about this, is that even if they just had a simple gun, which I'm sure they must have had, they could have just picked him off while he stood outside with his back turned.
@magetaaaaaa9 жыл бұрын
Giradox No one had a gun when he initially robbed them, and I don't recall seeing guns in the pit at any other time. It's possible that they don't carry them simply because the police show up often and without warning, and a gun is a charge they don't want to risk. Earlier in the season they were trying to get Omar on a gun charge, but he was too smart and predicted it and was clean when they went for him. He packs a LOT of heat, but he can risk it, because he comes and goes within minutes and is a lot less likely to get caught.
@Asidders9 жыл бұрын
I see, thanks :)
@magetaaaaaa9 жыл бұрын
Another issue is that it effects business. Earlier in the show Dee said that they police come around for the bodies, not for the drugs. If they had shot Omar right then and there, that might have brought serious heat down on that location, an investigation, more police stakeouts. A death at the pit would take a serious toll on sales I would imagine. If someone killed Omar, the police would be looking for that person, and a murder charge is far beyond anything those guys would normally get stuck with on an average day. We saw this earlier in the season when they went and grabbed everyone, and that one cop got punched. They tried to threaten that one guy with five years if he didn't cooperate, he just laughed and said he'd take the five. You won't see anyone laughing off a life sentence, they'll talk to get a deal. Barksdal and Stringer know this, and so they probably keep the pit workers unarmed.

That does make a lot of sense. Thanks again.

I remember in one scene, Omar walks around wearing a silk robe and no weapon. He walks and rest his back on a wall with a pack of cigarettes and a second later, a bag of drugs falls to his side. The scene had no dialogue but the intimidation was evident. Awesome!! 😂😂🤗👍👏
@Bringthewinter2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I remember that scene. He was walking around the kitchen looking for a weapon to bring with him but his gun was too big to fit. But I think he grabs a kitchen knife or something. All for some cereal. Most shows (bad ones) wouldn’t have taken the time to film this scene or would have cut it for not being “needed.” But this show really took the time to flesh out its characters. Which is why it is still the best drama I have ever seen. R.I.P Omar.
