1 of best components about the Wire was that it didnt rely on suspenseful music at the point of a climax.. like every other show nowadays, everything was realistic to a T, when shit happened often times it would come as a complete surprise. something oddly satisfying..never seen another show like the Wire

That what I loved about The Wire. Since it was aired on HBO, they were able to add that realistic portrayal that couldn't be watered down if it were aired on basic television. The recurring theme of dysfunction was played remarkably.

I don't think Shiela Dixon has been to Baltimore. The inner harbor was not always what it is, and the slums are pretty damned easy to find if you don't have a chauffeur. When you start passing corner check-cashing joints that sell liquor, you aren't quite there yet. Parts of Baltimore are beautiful, but every artwork isn't about what is easy like painting flowers. Go to Bucharest in Romania and look at the amazing churches and the mile-long fountain and great architecture and inner city spotlight...and ignore that there is a whole culture living underground. Some of the beauty of that city isn't the pretty part.
