Just wanna confirm- Brianna wasn't saying goodbye to D.. she didn't know abt the hit at all. She was heartbroken for her son, esp after he made it ckear he's emancipating himself from the family business (i.e. proud legacy) ..that's the thing abt the Barksdale siblings- they're all abt family. Stringer knew thus, which is why he had to find an "outsider" to kill for him. Daz all 🤓

"Shot him in his hind parts" is one of my favorite Omar quotes, which honestly, just about anything he says is a quote. I'm also glad you guys finally got to and enjoyed his courtroom scene, one of the best scenes in the series. S1 still ranks higher than S2 so far, still entertained by S2 though. I forgot D'Angelo died in S2, thought he lasted until S3. RIP D'Angelo. I'm assuming you guys didn't recognize him since you didn't comment on it, so just in case you were interested, Cheese is played by Wu-Tang member Method Man.

"Today we have ships." is a comment about the fact that "today" there are ships at the dock providing work for people. But "the writing is on the wall." That's changing. The work is going away and they have a chance to get three times the fee and stock up some money. "Fuck the writing" is Frank saying fuck the loss of dock jobs for the working poor. He's gonna fight that societal trend. As for is he gonna take the three times rate, you'll see but I don't think him taking the work or not is the real point of that scene, it's to show working poor, losing jobs and a union guy fighting to keep them there, fighting against a changing tide. And if you remember earlier they say "They used to make steel there no?" Again, a comment on the changing times and the loss of those jobs that would not require a higher education.

That Cheese Wagstaff character is played by Method Man, a rapper from Wu-Tang Clan. On the 'behind the scenes' it's funny when he tells how people were acting up how 'Method Man only got the role with connections' and he goes 'no mfers I actually went to the auditions and auditioned for the role'. I like his character, mostly in later seasons though.

Season 2 is great and I believe everyone in hindsight has grown to appreciate it. It was a little off putting on first watch when so many beloved characters from season 1 was pushed to mainly side stories but because they didn't completely deviate from the first season and did more world or really city building in season 2, it makes the overall story feel bigger or more broader. I still love season 1 more. It did all the heavy lifting as far as introducing so many flushed out characters. Plus the cat and mouse game between the drug dealers and police was great not to mention groundbreaking at the time. A cop show where you spend just as much time with the criminals as you do the police. Season 3 might be the best and season 4 is awesome also. 5 although still good is miles behind the other seasons.

Season 2 is my favourite. It builds on season 1 and I really enjoyed the change in direction which seemed to put some viewers off. Omars' character is developed into something more than a stick-up kid, he becomes almost the moral heart of the show, and one of my favourite characters in television. As a working class Brit and union man I can't help feel sympathy for Frank Sobotka and the dock workers plight, even though what he's doing is terribly wrong. Smuggling people is far worse than smuggling drugs.
