A legend told about the minaret of the Diyarbakır Grand Mosque is as follows: Once upon a time, when the minaret of the Diyarbakır Grand Mosque was about to be completed, a dispute arose between the master and the apprentice who were going to put the last piece of the minaret into place. The master did not want to give the apprentice the right to put the last piece into place. While the apprentice was thinking about what to do to complete the minaret, one night he dreamed of Hz. He saw Jesus helping him. In his dream, he told him to throw the last piece of the minaret into the sea and bring back whatever he found. When the apprentice woke up, he realized his dream and threw the last piece into the sea. The sea gave him a golden fish. The master saw this golden fish and thanks to him they completed the minaret. Thus, the last piece of the minaret was placed in place and the mosque was completed.
This legend reflects a story told about the completion of the minaret of the Diyarbakır Grand Mosque. However, remember that legends can often be very different from historical facts and contain mythological elements.
