I was 3 when this aired, and I actually remember that night, too. My parents brought me to my grandparents' house while they went Christmas shopping, and my grandma taped this and Charlie Brown for me. I remember sitting on the couch with my grandma, in my PJs and wrapped up in a blanket, watching this. :)

i wish my grampi was alive. i remember watching this on christmas eve with him and my brother. i was 5 years old. now this special make want a grandfather again.

That's a nice memory--and here we are, with Christmas right around the corner again! I love watching Christmas specials, no matter what time of year it is--and you're right; watching the specials we saw when we were kids does trigger a lot of great memories from our childhoods. I know how you feel; my father passed away 8 years ago, right after Christmas (January 7th, 2006) and my mother died Christmas Day 2009. Neither of them were very old, and neither of them smoked or drank or anything; it was just their time, I guess. (My father had an aneurysm and my mother had cancer.) But we have great memories of those we loved and we'll be with them again, one day. I hope you create new, wonderful memories with your own family, and have a very Merry Christmas this year! :)
