The Wista Field 45 is a nice 4x5 large-format Field Camera. It is compact and not too heavy.

I received my Wista 45D a couple of weeks ago. It was in excellent shape just needed disassembly and a good cleaning. It works like a charm and is just the field camera I was looking for. Thanks for your comments and replies to my inquiries in your Bunker Shoot from August 5th. 2019. It helped me with my selection. This is also a great video for someone like myself who was looking for a camera along the Linhof Technika design but without the high cost. The Wista fits the bill just fine. Great video. Unfortunately you missed one of the camera movements in your video. The back swing you described is the macro swing from the small knobs. There is a larger swing available to the back standard. There is a small black leaver below the large knob on the left hand side of the camera. With the camera open, pressing down on that leaver while turning the back standard swings the entire back left and right in large movements. Try it with the camera mounted on a tripod. Press down on that small leaver and turn the back standard to the left or right. Thanks again. Cheers from Nova Scotia, Canada.

It does have a swing of sorts. There is a black lever under the left lock knob which allows the body to swing left and right

Are. You. Fcking. Kidding. Me?!? I couldn't figure out what the two sliders do until you demonstrated how to remove the ground glas holder. So once that's taken out, there's a normal graflok entry there and now I can finally use my LomoGraflok. I was convinced, the Vista wasn't compatible with that until you showed this. I Have an Intrepid 4x5 field camera but this Wista seems very well build and practical. And it's nice with this color and (fake) wooden parts ! I need one ! :o) Thanks for this complete review.

The wista field 45d is really a great camera and it does not need to hide behind its competitors in my opinion. By the way, there are versions made from actual wood. But they are $$$$. 😅

by the way those screws on the focus rail are termed infinity stops, Linhof Technika's have them too, but they are hinged blocks, whose hinge is screwed to the rail, and there is one for every lens, ie Linhof colour code them, for wide/normal/telephoto(or Long)this helps identify the correct cams, and positions on the universal viewfinder to help with accurate focus and composition.

one safety tip, ALWAYS retract the top rail towards the rear standard, it reduces the distance between the "focus track top rail" and the 'stowage rail" or stand, this stops the front standard de-railing, or bashing the dovetails into the track, nicking it and causing damage, or lostening the fit of the standard to the rail, hence the inherent designed in, squareness of the front standard to the focus track, hence un_noticably adding swing to the shot, EVERY shot!! ; this also stops your fingers from being possibly pinched between parts, as the opening is less.

Hi, so i am not sure about the short 75mm lens since i have none. As for the 300mm it could be possible to but i am afraid it will not due to a short bellows. There are special tele photo lenses for 4x5 field cameras, that can deal with a a shorter bellows. eg this one here ebay.us/tRwOQ0 . in general one can say that a standard 300mm lens is better to be used with a 8x10 camera or a 4x5 studio cam where you can further extend the bellows.

@@RetroPixel_analog hola, esta semana me llegó la wista 45d y ya la probé con el lente de 75mm y cabe justo, pero no se puede hacer movimientos, hay que adquirir un fuelle de bolsa y tal vez otro accesorio que vi en otro vídeo, aún no pruebo la lente de 300mm que tengo, gracias por responder

Just one quick comment: you do not have to remove the the ground glass section in order to remove the focusing hood and you do not need to use a tool. You simply flip of the focusing hood an then draw down the thicker part of the holding axle and it will come of easily with the ground glass holder still fully in place

These are based on the Linhof Technika, but nowhere near as useful. Yes, that Wista has very limited movements. The Technikas have way more.
