Jessica Bryant from what i know, they may not be special kids as far as the witcher guild knows. They are just orphans that are trained in fighting and knowledge of monsters then subjected to a ritual that infses them with mutagens. It is possible that the few that survived were predisposed to surviving all this but they could just be lucky or simply physivally strong enough to endure the thing. it’s akin to the Spartans of ancient Greece that would send their kids to fight wolves. If they survive they come back stronger, if they die then they were not strong enough to be a spartan.

@@NeuralexLive I have not read all the books yet. On book 4 now. And I started with playing witcher 3. then i played 1 and 2 too. If i remember everything right, the games take place after the books story. So the games have their own story but have all the history of the books. Some things may differ. So to play the games will spoil what happens in the books a bit. And the show is based on the books. If you want the show to be spoiler free, dont read books or play the games. If you are like me and love to know more about the world and like that you know avents that happens. Then play the games and read the books. Start with witcher 3, if you love it. go back to 1 and 2. Great reaction dude. Sorry if I got something wrong, people can correct me :)

The great thing about the Witcher world is that sometimes good turns out to be evil and vise versa and there are many shades of grey in between. Also keep in mind that the background stories of Ciri, Yen and Geralt do not take place at the same time. For example, his fight with Renfi took place before Ciri was even born. Don't let that confuse you. This season is just an introduction so we get to know the characters and their backgrounds. As a fan of the books and the games I know this show has more potential than GOT and so far Netflix did a very decent job. I hope they will have a larger budget for the next season(s): there are some great stories to be told. Glad you like it. Thank you for the video!

I heard of people who simply stopped watching because characters who had died were suddenly alive again in the next episode. Everything is explained through dialogue. I agree it could be confusing for newcomers, but it would be a shame if they did not watch the rest.

Would've been better if the first half focused solely on Geralt to explain the short stories properly and the second one on Yennefer but from the point when she was already a seasoned sorceress

@@anitaremenarova6662 Good points, actually that is what the books (and games) did: they merely hinted on Yen's troubled youth. This was quite explicit. But still I liked it very much since everything is explained through dialogue: Renfri telling Geralt that queen Calenthe just won her first battle at Hochebuz and only minutes later we hear Ciri say to her grandmother(!) Calenthe: you were my age when you won your first battle at Hochebuz. So you know there is a time difference of at least 30 years between these stories right from the start. Wounded Calenthe later whispers to mage Mousack: 'he is in the gatekeep'. Since her husband Eist just died this can only refer to Geralt who must be around when Nilfgaard invades. And remember the scene where Ciri plays with the boys and suddenly turns around as if she feels someone's presence? This all happened in the very first episode and everything we need to know is being told. They connected the short stories brilliantly. But I agree it did make it more complicated, you can not afford to check you phone and miss a line of dialogue or you will be lost.

Geralt was not in Cintra when Nilfgaard invaded and Calanthe never imprisoned him, book Geralt didn't want Ciri and left. Cavill wants her for some reason even though he had never met her before since the Brokilon storyline where he saves her is completely fucked. The dryads somehow know who she is which is bullshit, how can they know.

I just finished reading The Last Wish yesterday and Geralt's story in this episode is straight out The Lesser Evil short in the book. Amazing how close this adaptation stays to the book. Also, Henry's voice for Geralt is supposed to be that way. I would suggest if you do a quick YT search on The Witcher game, you will understand why it sounds that way because it's supposed to be that way. At the same time, I would probably not do that to prevent spoilers if you have 0 knowledge on these characters and their futures. Geralt, Yennefer (who you'll meet soon) and Ciri all have big and entwined fates. Yes, Henry did all of his stunts so that was him 100% with the sword play. The man is that talented.

They could've done a better job at explaining everything in Renfri's story. For example the part about the Tridam massacre was left out which was the only reason Geralt decided to kill Renfri and her group

THis episode more than any of the others in part 8, shows that even when Geralt attempts not to take sides , he has to because the common folk are threatened by one of the two evils. In the case here, he is forced into siding with the Mage. If he had sided with Renfri then the mage would be dead and the town would fall further to chaos because there was no longer a mage there to aid it. Geralt is never really shown going directly against the Mages/council although hes had many opportunities to do so. What I also like is that it can be said that many of the Human characters in the Witcher world are every bit as monstrous as the creatures they pay Geralt to Hunt. Great review!

Geralt had to kill Renfri because she wanted to murder the whole city to force Strebogor to leave the tower. In the story "Lesser Evil" this is much better presented. Evil is evil, smaller, larger, medium - no difference.

The only reason Geralt killed Renfri and her group was because she planned to kill people in the market until Stregobor came out of his tower. Nowhere in the show is this stated, nowhere does it explain how Geralt figured out she lied. The writers could've removed the entirety of Ciri's story from the first season and focus more on Geralt's adventures because for a person that haven't read the books it must be incredibly confusing

Spoilers for how the magic system works, but not anything specific related to the story down below. I do use a slight spoiler for this episode as an example, but don't spoil what it means: Spells with variable costs can be cast with very little personal cost to a except for raw emotional outburst. But, if a witch or a wizard tries casting it, instead of a source, they have to pay the full cost. Effectively it's a more extreme version of the difference between Wizards and Sorcerers in Dungeons & Dragons 3rd, 3.5 and 4th edition, with wild Magic flavor text sprinkled in. Spells with set costs must always be paid in full. Spells that fall within a specialty, derivative spells created from that specialty by the source themselves and side effects of that specialty, provided that it doesn't have a set cost, can be cast by a source that specializes in it at literally no cost except for raw emotional outburst. For example all the powers ciri uses this episode are just side effects of what her specialty actually is. Witcher's can use simple spells that use kinetic Force tied to their strength and Elemental affinity (personality) at no cost to themselves. They also use potions to trigger individual mutations that they have been given and access certain abilities that they can use because of those mutations, however they still require the potions in order to activate. These additional powers can amplify the effectiveness of a simple spell, but not enable The Witcher to cast full spells. The ability is granted by the mutations are super speed, super strength, super hearing, telescopic vision, enhanced reflexes separate from super speed and other common superpowers. The downside is that they are rendered sterile and the mutations act as an insanely powerful anti-depressant, dampening emotional expression. That being said, it does not affect their ability to feel emotions, fall in love or have sex. It does however come with occasional bouts of the side effects usually found in strong antidepressants, including suicidal thoughts and actions, increased risk-taking and bouts of insomnia. Yay antidepressants. Any and all magic users are tied together by Destiny then normal humans and do magic users who are human in origin, even if they are witchers, are more easily bound together to other human based magic users by Destiny. on a side note, birds are also magic users, however they do not use consciously, and thus do not have the need to pay a cost. Instead, they weave together minor enchantments using their music or art in the same way that Jedi are able to trick the weak-willed and witchers are able to cast simple spells without cost. technically it is still Magic Use, so they are still easily bound together by Destiny with other human based magic users.

Sapkowski wrote these stories in this way. These are stories from the Witcher world that happen at different times. In the Saga contains one line time. If you want to watch it, watch it on Netflix. many of the reactions, especially for shows like this, GoT, and movies can only show a limited about without being flagged and stuff. If they want to keep their video up and keep their channel they need to follow certain guidelines. Don't use reaction videos to watch the show. We are here for their reactions, not to watch the Witcher.

The only noticeable mistake is the helmet flying off in the war scene , I laughed out loud when I noticed that xD Some of the Minot mistakes are the medallion not responding to the magic door etc. But overall I loved the show. The thing I didn't like would be the balsack armour and casting of Vigo .

The entire casting is fucked, the storylines are poorly written and unclear. This show could've been so much better if they just kept closer to the source material and didn't try to start their own pointless storylines like Ciri's or Yen's

The acting had been very good and I like the storylines. Sure, you’re free to have a different opinion but you make it sound like the show is horrible and that’s just not true.

I know these things of course but for someone who has never read the books it won't make much sense. So what if I want it to be exactly like the books? It would've been a much better show if this mediocre writer didn't screw with Sapkowski's masterfully crafted story. The bits that are not taken directly from the books are outright terrible, couldn't stand watching it for how bland it was. Have you seen the whole show? If that's the case I could explain in greater detail what they should've done differently

Many people pronounce Cavill as if it was a French word. Originally, it is a French surname.

@@arthursantel5180 Yes, of course! It's an honest mistake. Even native English speakers commit it. Eastern Europeans too! Maybe it's because they can tell that it must have a French root. It's means "the bald" in Old French, for what I can remember. Henry's paternal line must be Norman.
