The Witcher 3 Did Something Incredible

I played the Witcher 3 for the first time 2 years ago. I was at a friend’s house and they had just purchased it for their Xbox one and were playing it on their little 22 inch TV in the corner of their bedroom. As I watched my friend play through the Bloody Baron questline I found myself fascinated. This was both a game that had her frantically trying to manage the combat, crafting, and magic systems while also engaging both of us in its branching narrative. We had only been sitting there for 10 minutes, but I was already hooked and engaged in the story to the point where all I wanted was more. I had tasted the forbidden fruit and knew I had to experience this game for myself. So I purchased the Witcher 3 on Steam and began to play through it. And I quickly realized, the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt had done something incredible.

TheBubonic Plague i was kinda in the same boat friend. When I bought Witcher 3, it was the version that came with all the DLC; even the 16 small, free add-on's. Finally, after a couple times of just dipping into it, I dedicated a whole 3 hours too it, and then next I knew, i was over 300 hours in and had no desire to stop.

Just be warned, this game will ruin you! After I finished it, all I could think about was playing it again bc no other game really comes close in my opinion. I even bought a ps4 pro to play the exclusives I never had before like Uncharted 4, Until Dawn, and Horizon: Zero Dawn. (All were great games in there own way, and Horizon may actually have the best graphics I've ever seen in 4k, with awesome combat & storyline,) but it still felt like something was missing. There's a void left in me that no game has filled yet since The Witcher 3 (except for its amazing DLC's which almost felt like there own games, especially Blood & Wine.) So now luckily, enough time has passed that I'm able to enjoy different types of games again, but there's still a Witcher shaped hole in my gamer heart. (And the only cure is more cowbell... Jk) But I do hope CDPR either nails it with cyberpunk, or surprises the world with a new Witcher game soon. So heed my warning & play at your own risk!

VSGU TheOPCrown. I think your right. CDPR just seems to have figured out the formula perfectly for making a great game, and I'm sure Cyberpunk will amaze! (There's even a scene in the Witcher 3 where Ciri is talking about visiting a world with flying cars and giant buildings, ect...) If that turns out to be cyberpunk, that will be some seriously impressive forethought! CDPR for President!

Even in 2019, playing through The Witcher 3 is an absolute pleasure. In other games I find myself skipping dialogue, in this one I am constantly finding new details to appreciate in everything from the different textures to the detail of each characters face. The world feels like it's alive and breathing, I literally can't help but play for five hours or more whenever I open this game. No other game makes time fly by like this one. I sit down promising myself I would only play one quest and five hours flies by. I have heard that CDProjekt Red is working on a new open world RPG for release in 2021. I hope that is true. The only other games that came close to the escape that The Witcher offers was the Mass Effect series but for now all I can do is replay Witcher 3..

Watch the BTS videos. Especially industry ones from GDC. Their cinematics engine is absolutely GENIUS. It did what Mass Effect Andromeda's engine was supposed to do, but 10,000x better. It actually used AI rules to interpret the audio recordings and reference a structured library of character motions and film production rules to automate a significant portion of the game's cinematics. Artists then went in and tweaked a few parts and created hand-crafted animations for key areas.

Hey Luke, really enjoyed the video and can agree whole heartedly. The Witcher 3 for me is something i wish i could re-experience again for the first time (even re-obtaining the Platinum i have for it) as there is no other experience (personally) for me that can rival it, maybe other than The Last of Us or Dark Souls 1 (Different genres i know). CDPR created a masterpiece, yes it's not "Perfect" but as close to it as can be. The fact that Hearts of Stone was 15 hours for me, and Blood and Wine was 30, on top of the 60 i put into the main story with side quests, is amazing, and no sadly no games moving forward, will warrant such a full experience in terms of scope, depth, enjoyment and simply - having fun again while playing video games. I bought the collector's despite the price, knowing i was in for something special and i am so glad i did. Moving forward CDPR hands down has earned my trust, and anything they make from here on out, will warrant an immediate purchase no matter what. They're so transparent with their responses to questions and adamant about making "Quality over Quantity" games that puts faith in Cyberpunk 2077 being another grand experience to rival that of The Witcher 3. Also this was there first attempt at an open world game (TW3 - from what i've heard) and they did a great job.

the best part about skyrim and witcher 3.. is that no matter how much you have played you will always find a location you have never been before.. like a hidden cave on top of a mountain that has a hole you can fall into that leads to a massive under ground lake/cave... that you had no idea was there.

Just finished Blood and Wine for the first time, and it was so good that i fuckin shed a few tears. That's not an overstatement, that literally happened as Anna and Syanna hugged it out. Man, what a story - the twists, the turns, the depths of character... It's actually a crime for The Witcher to be this good because now i doubt i'll find something that I can enjoy and look forward to.

Well said. I still have friends who are massive gamers and to this day, for whatever reason, refuse to play it. It's so frustrating to me because it would bring me genuine joy to know they experienced everything I did. The only point I would add to your reflection here is that the DLCs were also individual masterpieces. When I finished both DLCs I thought to myself that I would never enjoy a greater work of a game... then a few weeks later someone pointed out to me that you actually first meet Gaunter O'Dimm in White Orchard - and my mind was blown and my suspicions were confirmed.

Witcher 3 is responsible for some of my most memorable gaming experiences. One in particular being the quest where I had to slay the giant on one of the Skellige islands. I sailed there and drifted up to a dock as the sun was setting. There was a small village that was totally abandoned and run down. Wood was creaking in the wind, dead trees everywhere, I could hear an occasional scream or howl in the distance and there was some very eerie and spacey music gently playing in the background. It was like an ancient version of the scene from Apocalypse Now when they reached the Do Long bridge. Such a dark atmosphere, yet you still felt like a badass as climbed out of the boat because well, you're the Witcher and that means death to whoever or whatever you're hunting down.

I can remember the first time I played the original Witcher game. I download a demo and was hooked. It was a fascinating although somewhat buggy game. CD Projekt Red wanted to make the perfect game and ended up releasing a enhanced edition which was free if you already owned the game. Fast forward until now and their dedication created Witcher 3. I wish all developers would be this amazing. I have had so many awesome memories playing the Witcher series and hope that they keep it up.

One thing you didn't mention about The Witcher 3 is that the world looks amazing. The visual aspect of this game is worth it alone. Just looking at the graphics and how they created the look of the game is amazing. I also have a gaming computer I built to handle my VR system and playing The Witcher 3 on the highest settings available is breathtaking to say the least. I completely agree with everything you're saying about the game. The Witcher 3 is everything I ever wanted in a Fantasy Game. I loved the Dragon Age games... mostly... but this set the bar for everyone else. The story is probably so rich due to the world having been created in the Book Series. I am starting to read them and they are as good a story if not better than the video game.

The Witcher 3 is a game where the story is the most important thing in it. All the other stuff, the game world, the characters and special effects exist to support that story and I think that's great. This game isn't built around a fetch-quest, loot-reward mechanic and "here, I'll mark it for you on your map." The things you say and do in Witcher 3 also have real consequences. In a Fallout/Elder Scrolls game, it's just a matter of having a high enough Personality/Charisma level to get the information you want. Once you have that information, the interaction is over. In Witcher 3, if you use "Axii" to interrogate someone in a crowded tavern, other people are going to notice that you're messing with them and they're not going to like it. It also feels like the NPCs have their own stuff to do, whether you are there or not. This is not like Skyrim or Fallout 4, where everyone is standing around, waiting for the "Chosen One" to show up. In some ways, it actually reminds me of Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, which I love and I STILL have installed.

im commenting here to praise the witcher 3 as i did with horizon new dawn simply because we need to show appreciation for game designers who go above and beyond in creating beautiful and interesting games far in advance of anything they would have to do to simply make money. these two games literally renewed my faith in games - beforehand and for about ten years i had left consoles to have fun and spend money in the real world, but jesus christ - when i sat down high or otherwise to play and immerse myself in these games i was consistently gobsmacked by the depth and creativity set down painstakingly by the designers. like the uploader said, these games do something to you, they go beyond gameplay to a world where you want to spend time walking around to see how the sunset looks when night falls in this particular part of the map. when it begins raining its not just coloured pixels traversing the screen.. the atmosphere actually changes and feels cold and damp like the real world does when it pours down. i am not a gamer per se, i dont watch out for the latest games or spend hardly anything at all on them to be honest, but these two games in particular are truly incredible. for a guy who grew up on the amiga its breathtaking when you stop and consider just how far we've all come.. and with developers like this around - i am genuinely excited by how far we may still go if you havent experienced either of these titles, do yourself a favour.. get yourself a copy of each second hand, take a weekend off, sit down and enjoy the ride. believe me, you wont be disappointed

I forgot some key moments later in the story. Spoilers: Like when Geralt thought Ciri died and I remembered Vesemir died but both those scenes were so emotional it was more heartbreaking than most movies. So I got into witcher 3 very late just picked up the game of the year edition. Let me start by saying that this game is legendary this might be the only game to rival skyrim and i played the crap out of skyrim even bought it twice it was so good. But the witcher 3 is blowing me away the game just had so much depth the world feel alive every character is interesting even the minor npcs they all have their own story. The monsters are awesome loved reading the lore for monsters it's just so interesting and there s different ways to take them down you really have to prepare. Combat is challenging and strategic it takes time to get used to but when you do you will feel like a Badass casting spells dodging combos. The game is long as hell there s so much to do including the dlc this could be the longest game ever made😂 you play as Geralt a Witcher which basically a monster slayer trained in spells and combat they kill monsters for gold. I really liked Geralts personality he's very reserved and collected but also has a good sense of humor he's a womanizer and a good fighter. Just a Badass character all around definitely get this game if you haven't already

I haven't gotten past the bloody baron quest in the Witcher 3, but i'm not really into "following the story" as you talked about with Skyrim, i'm the type of person that runs around RP'ing and making my own story. I set out to explore and travel the world, but very quickly felt like the Witcher's combat system was trash, i definitely prefer first person systems (skyrim & kcd come to mind). I then kept running into higher level NPC's dragons, basilisks, a few other things i can't recall the names of and it really felt as though i was being punished for trying to go ahead of the story. At that point I felt like they were forcing me to do the story so i stopped playing it.

Yeah I first starting playing The Witcher 3 on XBOX One soon after it first came out. I completed the game then and reached like level 55 or so.. For the most part the game ran well but I did run into glitches here and there that prevented me from enjoying the game as much as I would have liked. Now flash forward to today I'm playing The Wither 3 on PC at 4K/60FPS via: I7-8700K@4.8GHZ OC'D - H100i V2 -- EVGA GTX FTW3 1080Ti@2025MHZ - 16GB DDR4 Ram 3600MHZ - 1TB SSD - EVGA 850W G2 Gold PSU and damn this game is just INSANE! I have just about everything set to "Ultra" except "High" for number of background characters. "High" for shadow quality and like one other thing set to "High" vs. "Ultra" oh and of course disabled the "hairworks" bs.. Super smooth and fluid 60FPS gameplay at 4K in this game is just stunning. Just for the hell of it and set the game to 30FPS just to remember what it was like to play on console... I honestly had a hard to believing I use to play the game at 30FPS.. It's just night and day the difference. I've been kicking myself for not building a PC sooner. Oh well better late than never.

I restarted this game 5 times, with dlc, and cleanning all the maps treasures, and I never get bored or anything, in my opinion, it's clearly the best game in history. The immersion is incredible, the emotions too. And I find the best video games editor: CD projekt. They maked games with love and passion, we really payed for something. And they really diderver their money. Not like many editors we known. Im old fan of rockstar games, but since gta V and their micro transactions, the devid take them. So: Cd Projekt/witcher3 wins everythhing. Now can't wait for cyberpunk...

I think cdprojectred had a problem with marketing the witcher 3. When I got the free code with my video card, I had never heard of the series at all, eventhough, I usually look for similar games like fallout, skyrim and mass effect. I played all three mass effect games, elderscroll 4 and 5, and fallout 3 before the game came out in 2015. When I got the witcher 3, I just scrapped all the games I was playing and poured hundreds of hours into the game.

I also had been waiting for fallout 4 and was severely disappointed. After 40 hours I was done, fallout 4 has no soul. I picked up Witcher 3 at a garage sale believe it or not and kept it for a year until I finally decided to try it (was put off by 3rd person). I quit 2 times because the story and mechanics we're too confusing for me (ex Skyrim player for you) not to mention the difficulty. So one day I literally forced myself to try it after reading so many good reviews and I'm glad I did... All's I have to say is that I'm barely discovering the masterpiece that is Witcher 3 in 2018. The best rpg of all time.

The Witcher 3 didn't perfectly combine story with open world. If you're talking about side quests, then yes. But the main quests doesn't go with the open world, it has a real sense of urgency, you HAVE to find Ciri, but oooh horse races. It's the same in Skyrim where the fate of the world is in your hands but ooohhh another dwemer ruin. Morrowind combined it pretty well, after the first main quest a guy says "well, things are quiet now, and you need some experience, go out into the world and do some shit, maybe join a faction, and I'll call for you when you're needed".

I loved this game so much. I was having so much fun with the all the interesting characters and questlines and the combat was a blast. Then after maybe like 70 hours of time invested into this game I ran into a glitch and I’m unable to progress. (Possible spoilers below) I got to Kaer Morhen and I had to do three quests. I helped both lambert and eskel and then I only had to help Yennefer with her megascope. Only the quest marker was on top of one of the mountains you can’t get to. I’ve done my best to try to walk all around the mountain and there is no way to get up I just slide down the sides. After watching some gameplay videos I realized that the quest marker was supposed to be in the tower in kaer morhen. I don’t know what to do now. I love this game so much I really don’t wanna just abandon it. I if anyone can give me some advice that would be great.

YES THIS!!!! Soundtrack must be the one thing noone gives a shit about cause games - visuals and gameplay, right... But truth is, the soundtrack is what really makes you feel a game, and the witcher 3 in my honest opinion, is from another world, i've downloaded a bunch of those osts just to have that feeling, and the fact that each track makes the sensation completely different You hear the swamp music, you FEEL crookback bog, you hear the city music, you feel novigrad, you hear the Kaer Trolde ost, you can FEEL the heat of Crach's fireplace in the middle of those mountains, and the snow falling, ans the way it was recorded, so much passion, each place with it's own sensation It is totally outstanding, glad to know someone agrees

I was so wrong!!! I recently finished my first play through and I’m already like halfway through my second. It was only until I played this game that I realized how much Skyrim did wrong. The Witcher universe feels so alive and real, the combat isn’t dry and repetitive, I genuinely care about ability points, alchemy, signs. This game is just so perfect, I’m in love with the characters, Geralt is such a cool protagonist. Never knew I would be so passionate about a game. The witcher 3 is a good game because it made you into Geralt. This is extremely rare since most rpg these days let you create your own character. But starting off as a the main character and feeling like you're him? That's old school story telling at its finest. The sensation that you're feeling can be comparable to reading a good book, or being read to as a kid. The game also tackles how humanity act at its weakest and ugliest point, examples are the Baron's quests, and Fyke's Tower quest. There will be time where you have to make a decision to choose the lesser evil, which one is the lesser? Completely up to you to decide. Free the tree spirit? Or let the children get eaten so you can save Hannah. And as you continue on the path to kill monsters, you'll start to ponder who's the real monster. Wraiths only appear when there's an unfulfilled task left behind by someone who died violently, botchlings are created when a still fetus is bury without a proper funeral, and the eternal fire cult is on a hunt for a scapegoat. It was human that created witchers in the first place to hunt monsters, yet as time goes by human started calling them freaks and monsters. All of those things are thrown at you as you look for Ciri and trying to keep the world from freezing over. And at the end of the day, people will still treat you the same even after you saved their world. This is call life.
@bloodwolf9428
@bloodwolf9428 6 жыл бұрын
yeah exactly.. Man, this game shows the brutality of humankind. The reality of our world even. Then when they start showing the other worlds with Avallach and how he talks about all worlds will eventually die without water and then the white frost then you think about global warming, Drought as lots of countries now struggle without water and also about ice ages^^.. Also the emotional turmoil in quests. Even if you remove the game play the story and lore alone can beat stuff like GOT and other incredible stories

GREG E3 EGG Cyberpunk is based a little less on incredible story, although it still has one, and from what we've seen so far, it seems pretty good, and more on its combat system. It will also put you at conflicts, but probably different ones. The Witcher had conflicts like racism, war and scapegoating. Cyberpunk is probably going to have conflicts more about violence and substance abuse. But no matter what, from the gameplay demo you can clearly see it feels really realistic.

John Lee To put it simply, it did everything other RPG's have been trying to do for years, and did them better than they have ever been done before. It has an absolutely massive, beautiful World that is absolutely filled with content. The attention to detail in every aspect of its design is unmatched in gaming, and the world feels organic and real. The story and characters are what really put it ahead of everything else though. Every Character, no matter how little of a role they actually play, seem like real people, with unique appearances, voices and mannerisms. The Story for each quest, including the many sidequests, are all exceptionally interesting and unique, this isn't a game where a farmer will offer you 10 gold pieces to herd his sheep for him, or to slay 5 lizards. Each quest is like a self contained episode for a show. I could really go on but suffice to say this game is the best RPG I have ever played, and it isn't even close.
