Don't forget, as I did, that as far as the base game is concerned, only Yoana (female armorer at Crow's Perch,) is capable of crafting advanced armor sets, and only after you do the "Master Armorers" questline. When you go to Fergus he'll craft the Superior level gloves, boots and trousers, but for some reason the Superior Wolven armor (chest component) is coded as mastercrafted armor, therefore only Yoana will craft it. Your game isn't bugged, it's just coded inappropriately.

14:50 You can also use Aard to disperse the gas so you don't risk blowing yourself up. Another alternative is the Golden Oriole potion that grants you immunity to poison

You can get a fully Master crafted wolf gear chest piece at Kaer Morhen if you find one of the student's notes at the castle. Saves you the trouble crafting it to master level

@@GamerGrade when your doing the Ugly Baby quest at Kaer Morhen.. When you get a chance to explore.. Go outside and check the castle wall area.. The notes are about this student trying to forge his own blade.. It'll start the quest to the forge.. I believe its a book if not look for a book in that spot.. The book is needed when you get to the forge to unlock a special magic door .. You place the book at the Alter then aproach the magic fire .. The fire will speak to you then turn into a fire elemental.. After you kill it.. Right where the fire was..is a magic door..open that with the talisman and that's it.. Everything will be right there

You only get the quest that leads you to the forge once you find the notes or book.. You can skip all this and just go to the forge by the river yourself but without the book to put place at the alter .. You don't get the gear

Yo dude. I don't know if you remember me I spoke to you a couple of months ago about getting the feline armour. I was the dude who beat the level 17 beast at level 10 to get the feline armour as I wanted the wolf armour but you informed me it's best to get feline armour as the wolf armour doesn't come until late game. Well.......I've now completed the game, done all the side quests and Witcher contracts. I've got my master crafted wolf school armour (which your vids helped with by the way) and now I'm back in blood and wine and now looking to find the grandmaster armour. Yeah just because HoS released first, certainly doesnt mean you have to do it first. With your GM gear from B&W it will make the bosses in HoS easier, so its a sound plan :) 🍻

If you're short on cash, or just don't want to spend it, you don't need to craft the Mastercrafted chest piece. If you do the quest "The Witchers Forge" (in Kaer Morhen Iron Mines a Lvl 30 quest) you'll get a mastercrafted Wolven chest piece as a reward in one of the chests you uncover. You'll need Nehalani's Eye from Keira to complete the quest. To get Grandmaster level, you don't need to upgrade the set to Mastercrafted, or indeed craft any of them. This is because the Wolven armour were added in a DLC update. Personally I think the Wolven armour is the best looking, but it's stats are a bit... well, "general". It's very much hybrid build oreintated.

@@kikothegod4750 The Wolf School gear individual DLC was rolled up into the Blood and Wine DLC. As far as I know it's not available anymore as a single download - if it is, it'll be available on XBox Live I should have thought. If you have 'Blood and Wine' then you should have the Wolf DLC. The 'Game of the Year' edition (GOTY) has everything.

My first couple play throughs I was a Cat School man, but I've fallen in love with the Wolf School gear. It matches your fellow witchers quite well, and the mastercrafted version especially compliments Ciri's alternative outfit. Unfortunately, the downside to this gear is twofold: 1. You can't get it until you've unlocked Kaer Morhen, which is pretty far into the game, meaning you can't sport your sweet Wolf School gear until you're well more than half way through. Also, you'll likely be at such a level that the basic gear won't be useful and you'll immediately upgrade to enhanced or even superior. 2. There's a bug where the note you need to read at the old tower to proceed with the treasure hunt doesn't appear, blocking this quest entirely. Meaning you can't get Wolf School gear at all until B&W. Real shame. Of course, this seems to only occur when you install the DLC during an active playthrough. This doesn't occur in NG+

I think on my next playthrough I'm going to skillfully unlock Kaer Morhen as early as possible without failing dependent quests (which shouldn't be *too* hard as most are gated by Isle of Mists) and then cross my fingers I don't run into the bug lol.

This comment is way late and probably touched on in previous comments but heres my issue; Ive progressed lvl 49, part way through Blood & Wine and have the treasure hunt for Grandmaster Wolven gear in my Quests. So I checked out this vid (Excellent & thorough kudos!) and thought I would backtrack to Kaer Morhen to pick up the entry lvl gear and the crystal is not on the ext. tower wall and the chests have different stuff in them... eek... going to check out the Wolven Grandmaster scavenger hunt anyway... who knows whats gonna happen... :-0

Yeah this is a common problem i found out about through the comments section after making the video. Its a bug with PS4 only i think? Someone else mentioned the only way to fix it was to download an update from the store and you just have all the diagrams ready to craft. Let me know if that helps? Good luck 👊

I can confirm i am on xbox one x, “the complete edition” and the crystal was there 1st time. As a test i reloaded 4x and it was there every time. Although i have heard from friends that on the normal version it is not for some. Cannot confirm that for myself though

Happened with me too, looked for it for 3 hours straight, honestly almost gave up but if ur on console, go ahead and look for the scavenger hunt: wolf school gear in the store or simply look through the add-ons for witcher 3 and u’ll be able to install it, restart the game, head over to lindenvale in velen to purchase the map and then ull be able to look for the set but i did all of this and yet the portal outside the tower and chest are still unavailable to me

If anyone sees this to get the Grandmaster wolf set...all you need are the diagrams from the DLC Bllood and Wiine...you don't need enhanced stuff...the wolf set is the only one that does not ask for superior pair of boots or what have u lol But you dio have to find the diagrams if not for nothing else then to make the armourer in Beauclair a Grandmaster armourer.

Yes you are right Jen, this was to fix a bug on the console version of the game, which prevented players from getting the lower quality versions needed to craft higher qualities. Bear in mind you need to be level 40 to equip the Grandmaster set. 👍

so on my first playthrough I only had my feline armor upgraded up to grandmaster, and my stupid ass thought it’ll be the same for every armor. For my second playthrough, I wanted to have each grandmaster armor. So I spent hours tracking down where to buy the diagrams for the location basic-mastercrafted armors. So I spent plenty of crowns and resources to build my wolven armor from basic to mastercrafted, when I finally got the grandmaster diagram, I was like “You have got to be shitting me” for not knowing that you dont need the mastercrafted armor to build the grandmaster

Yeah there was a bug that prevented players from getting the Wolven set so the devs applied a patch to unlock. However it seems some players dont get this fix for some reason and still cannot get the Wolven set, still trying to work out why this is? Someone said the fix only works if you have the complete / GOYT edition installed, and some say only the Granbdmaster set gets unlocked when you reach Toussaint / B&W. Do you have the GOTY edition installed?

Am I missing something? The basic Wolf School Gear can be crafted/worn at level 14, but you can’t get to the areas required to get the diagram until quite a few levels higher than 14 - I haven’t figured out exactly ☺️? BTW - just started the Witcher3 and so glad I found your wonderful videos!

Happened with me too, looked for it for 3 hours straight, honestly almost gave up but if ur on console, go ahead and look for the scavenger hunt: wolf school gear in the store or simply look through the add-ons for witcher 3 and u’ll be able to install it, restart the game, head over to lindenvale in velen to purchase the map and then ull be able to look for the set but i did all of this and yet the portal outside the tower and chest are still unavailable to me

Its gliched on console, there is a way to fix it but you'd have to start a brand new save.

I cant find the wolven gear maps anywhere. Im pretty sure ive checked every blacksmith and armorer in the entire game, yet none of them sell the maps to begin the quest line. All the others work fine, but Wolven is the only one i can't get to work. I also went to the tower in Kaer Mohren and the chest cant be opened and there is no crystal there. Cant believe this has never been fixed. Does anyone know a work around? The wolven gear is the only gear i want for grandmaster 😭

You'll be able to craft the full Grandmaster Wolven gear set when you reach the Grandmaster crafter Lazare Lafargue in Toussaint, without crafting any previous qualities. The only downside is you'll have to wait until then. Thats the way they fixed it, not sure why they couldnt fix it properly so you can craft previous qualities to equip earlier.

For the steel sword diagram, as well as others, the diagrams don't show up until you've examined the carving of the wolf. They simply won't show up, and if you loot the chest first, it doesn't refill... Also, for the poison gas, you can use golden oriole to negate it. It seems to be a particularly potent gas down there, the igni method nearly got me killed lol.

@@GamerGrade I'm surprised more guides don't mention it, considering it can actually mess up a playthrough unlike the bug of not getting the quest/markers. *Also, many people say that you don't need the prerequisite armor/weapons to craft the grandmaster sets...which is totally false. Not sure if that was a patched thing or not, but it's misinformation that could waste someone a lot of time.

No it wasnt patched, its always been the case you need all previous qualities before you can craft GM. However its worth noting, there was a bug in the game which specifically prevented the Wolven gear set from being upgraded, and this bug was exclusive to consoles only (not PC). The way the devs fixed this was to allow players to craft the GM set when you reach Toussaint without any previous qualities. This may be why some players state you do not need the previous qualities.

Yeah it only affected older gen consoles which dont have next-gen, like the PS4 XBOX One. PS5 you're good to go 👍

According to one of my other viewers, they confirmed if you have the Blood & Wine expansion installed, when you reach Toussaint, you'll be able to craft the full Grandmaster Wolven set at Lazare Lafargue without having crafted any previous qualities. Obviously this still doesnt fix the issue of not being able to wear any Wolven gear before level 40, but i suppose its something! 👍

The maps? They should be available to purchase as soon as you speak to them. If they are not there dont worry, you can just follow the video to find the crafting diagrams and all related Scavenger Hunt quests will automatically update/complete 👍

This was a major known bug. Have you got the latest v4.x update installed? This is supposed to fix this issue. However this upgrade was only available for latest gen consoles and PC, not previous gen like PS4.

Yeah from previous comments ive had its a bug you're experiencing. Apparently you can download an update from the PS store giving you the diagrams ready for crafting, assuming you're on PS4.

Great informative video. Unfortunately on this playthrough the wolf gear seems to be glitched. Cant find or buy the maps anywhere, and ive stumbled upon several wolf gear chests only to find I can't interact with any of them. I also noticed that the wolven gear dlc is no longer available in the Microsoft store or in my files. Im playing on the most recent patch, so I'm not sure if its glitched or they just removed that entire set and all enhancements. From everything I've read online the glitch only affects the basic wolf set, but I can't interact with any of the enhanced wolf diagram chests at all. Does anyone know what currently is going on with that set? Everything i find is several years old. This is my first time having issues with wolf armor and im so freakin frustrated.

Yes unfortunately its unobtainable for many players if the DLC methods etc do not work. Otherwise If you are on PC you can command console them into your inventory, i think thats the only way.

Ahh i think thats the bug patch fix? The quest is bugged for many players preventing them from acquiring the diagrams. So the devs released a patch which just unlocked the Grandmaster set. Are you on PS4?

My game was bugged for some reason and if anyone is having the same issue, the chest wasn't interactable at first, I dove into the water right near it, used my witcher senses, saw an orange shining chest at the bottom, went there the chest dissapeared. Got out of the water, used my witcher senses and chest was interactable again and i got it. It's the part 1 of silver sword upgrade.

Dont worry the maps aren't really needed. You can still unlock and complete the quests by finding the related crafting diagrams as shown in the video. When you find them all the quest will complete as normal 👍
