There is a reason why CDPR chose geralt again for their witcher games as the books didn't end very nicely for him. Books don't say that ''only man can be a Witcher'' books say ''no woman survived the trail''. Ciri isn't an ordinary woman, she is a child of elder blood, most powerful character in the Witcher saga, so she can be anything. Also her being protagonist makes sense, after all whole Witcher saga is about her and Witcher 3 ending, her becoming a Witcher is a canon now. I'm grateful we are getting continuation instead of ''create your own DEI character'' crap.

The natural progression of the story from Witcher 3 was for Ciri to become a Witcher (in name at least) and take over the franchise, there are some lore questions on her getting the Witcher mutations and not using her special abilities. However, I think people are making a lot of assumptions based on "girlboss" fatigue.

Yeah the trial of grasses is only engineered for men. Its likely some advancements were made or it has something to do with Ciri's elder blood and magic, that lets her bypass it. In the Witcher lore, women could once become witchers. The problem was that the trial of grasses were passed by children and the girls' bodies could not withstand the mutations. Honesty, I never found Ciri or Geralt particularly interesting. Ciri is a typical tomboyish-chosen one, and Geralt's best quality, in my opinion, is he was stoic and ambagious enough to allow us, the players, to shape his decisions without making it seem, for the most part, out of character for him.

Ciri taking up the mantle makes sense... however.... she is NOT a Witcher... if i remember she doesnt undergo the trial of the grasses. So its personally confusing to see her use potions... however its awesome to see her use her elder powers too... im up in the air about this one... i LOVES playing as ciri in 3. With her now using signs as well is something im happy to see.. but the potions though... thays my biggest draw back

I mean you could ask that about Geralt too, and the reason is pretty simple, the monsters in these games are just as smart, it’s an animal essentially, it’s not gonna leave where it has the advantage, so either you stand there and wait for it or you with your monster hunting knowledge and eldritch powers can go in there and fight the thing you were paid to kill

Books don't say that ''only man can be a Witcher'' books say ''no woman survived the trail''. Ciri isn't an ordinary woman, she is a child of elder blood, most powerful character in the Witcher saga, so she can be anything. Also her being protagonist makes sense, after all whole Witcher saga is about her and Witcher 3 ending, her becoming a Witcher is a canon now. I'm grateful we are getting continuation instead of ''create your own DEI character'' crap.

The books essentially revolve around Ciri, the whole premise of tw3 revolves around Ciri, one of the endings in tw3 has Ciri becoming a Witcher. Unsurprising that the people who have neither read the books or played the games are making the most assumptions based on a single teaser but oh well 🤷🏻‍♂

As much as i want to say that this is girl boss situation....it is not ciri is suitable for this role as lara croft was suitable for tomb raider....the whole witcher franchise had a big big portion of the main story centered around this character and she was supposed to be one of the most powerfull beings in that world so yeah it makes perfect sense...also and it is just pure coincidence at this point because of the world we live in now and many people will call it out but you might get a not straight romance regarding her because she was kinda bi in the books and the witcher 3 but i really hope that they give the players the choice and not force it like every game out there now and according the witcher lore she is definitely not a DEI character
