I don't really understand how you guys think character customization is the best while the backbone of the series has been how Geralt of Rivia was written and how the whole game is based on our character's specific characteristics. All the interactions, dialogues, and how the White Wolf was perceived by the folk. Even the inner voice of Geralt when he was alone and doing his things... The game would have been null without the main character. I don't think they will change this dynamic.

That's the thing with fictional stories, anything can happen. For all we know, the games take place chronologically before the events of the Witcher 3. Geralt’s story should continue, geralt’s character and his supporting cast is what makes the game and the lore amazing. And Ciri’s involvement in game should remain limited until the 5th or 6th entry it’s not even that’s she’s too strong it’s the fact she’s not actually a Witcher which means no signs and no potions which has always been a staple from a gameplay perspective. The preparation for fights is what the game fun and different. Having to tailor your potion, oil, and sign use depending on the threat. With ciri it just turns into a mindless hack and slash

Geralts story is done. Continuing it would only ruin it. There is so much potential in going back to when there were more monsters in the world and the witcher schools were all active and thriving as opposed to Geralts time. Ciri's story is already done. They already continued his story well past when the books end. Continuing it further beyond him having a role like vesemirs would not be good. They have already pushed the boundary very far. And plus they finished his story. Hes just gonna be relaxing in either toussaint or kovir depending on your romance, and only doing minor contracts. Hes trying to just live for the first time in his life. Geralt is one of my all time favorite characters but hes done. Time to move on.

I think that Ciri is just way to overpowered to be the main character... I presume the game will take place after the events of the Witcher 3, Ciri was already broken at the end of that game, I mean she was able to teleport constantly and basically travel through dimensions... to me that isn't a Witcher game... or at least what a Witcher game should be..., It's supposed to be about a monster hunter with an immense knowledge of all the species and varieties of monsters and creatures, their strengths and weaknesses, their patterns, about a Witcher that uses potions to strengthen themselves, uses oils to cover their 2 blades to enhance their lethalness ect. If Ciri would be the main character I guess the only way they could make that happen is to nerf her heavily, to the point where she's at the level of a master Witcher like Geralt was, or they could go the route they went with Cyberpunk 2077, where we create out own character, and with this character we could progress from an apprentice/student Witcher to a master Witcher. The only problem with that is... since its a character that we create, i don't know if It'll have the same effect on the story as it would if you'd have a fully fledged out character (Like Geralt of Rivia) with a written out backstory, previous relationships with other characters, and that sort of stuff... The way I would like the story to go would be that we are a part of the Lynx school where Ciri is the leader/founder... where we have a main hub/castle/community of Witcher's and we get appointed contracts by Ciri to hunt monsters in the world... and as we progress as a Witcher we don't have to rely on Ciri and other witchers as much and we are allowed to go solo through the world and take our very own contracts by choice (like we did in TW3), fight in the wild and experience our own journey, And obviously Id like to see some old characters to be involved somehow)...

custom character would mean a pretty limited story (since the main character isn't fully written, he is also the player) so I don't think a trilogy would fit. The fact that they want to make three games means the story will have a continuation

The school of the lynx was founded by Lambert and Kiara Mitz, Kiara hints near the end of Witcher 3 that she planning something and needs lambert for this, this would be school of the lynx, also to note that school of the cat is heavily important for school of the lynx, as Gaetan (cat Witcher) Dragonfly (a woman Witcher who lived with the cat school for some time) Joel(another cat Witcher) are also founders, there is a lot of evidence providing this, Gaetan in the game hints heavily to wanting a new life for Witcher's. same as lambert, Kiara Mitz wants to found a new order for magic. a Lynx is a type of wild cat, rather bigger then our fluffy friends, but they are cats none the less, so for how heavily the school of the cat is involved makes sense, but the school of the lynx is a mixture of the teachings of the school of the wolf and cat. Imo the school of the lynx will be a school that specialises in magic for killing monsters. maybe more spell sword types, this would make sense for Ciri's involvement as she is a mage Witcher.

Thing with is with Ciri that she's not a witcher. Witchers are mutants, that what makes them "witchers" not the fact that they hunt monsters. They have been genetically enhanced to hunt monsters more efficiently. You can give the witcher training to most humans, but they will still be inferior to a true witcher in terms of physical strength, reflexes and survivability, being able to see in the dark and hear people's breathing from a dozen meters away also comes as a bonus. And Ciri is still physically fully human, a well trained one, but still human. So even basic witcher elixir can kill her if she drinks it, as they are highly toxic even for witchers themselves (although most games do not portray it very well). Also there is not a single living person who knows how to create one, so if your theory is correct, the new witchers will be quite different from the old ones. P.s. Ciri is also not a mage in it's original meaning, as she no longer can use normal magic as she used to while she was young. So even a basic signs will be unavailable to her, the only thing she can do is to travel between time and space at will.

An interesting theory but we shall see. Dragonfly is a doubtful addition as she come from a pen-paper game based on the Hexer TV show and not any official content or canon. That said, it would be cool to see her brought into the fold and made canon though as apart from her we have not seen a female witcher. While CDPR goes on to explain in their lore that none of the original female candidates survived the trials they never state that women can not become them. I would wager more on that the original founders took their experience in seeing their friends die as a sign that it was impossible and never thought to try mutating female candidates over it being impossible. Either way, excited to see what happens. :O

I don't want to play as Ciri, that would be a hard pass for me, gameplay wise. She's a great character but not interested in playing a 3 part series with her. Either give me something brand new way in the past when Witcher's were being first founded or even way back when they were more prominent. Not sure what they're going to do, but I'm cautiously optimistic. Also Ciri is not a Witcher at the end of the game, it's impossible for women to become Witchers, I thought we learned this through in game lore?

In my opinion, Geralt should be the main character again, a kind of come back from his retirement for one last quest. Ciri is cool too, but she's very OP to be the main character, I mean, in W3 the enemies weren't able to even touch her with all that teleportation, there were no challenge at all. And Geralt's character is so fucking charismatic, he's a walking legend.

I heard in the next Witcher game, their main focus in the storyline is having Geralt transition into becoming a trans woman, and then the main plot is him pretending to be a victim, "canceling" any pub-songs he doesn't like, and striving to be "accepted" by forcing his way into every aspect of their culture and screaming "look at me....Look at me....Worship me!!"...... It should be before the witcher games not after. Back when witchers were still being made. Tutorial takes you through childhood and trial of grasses, flgame opens up when your full flushed heading out on your first contract. Epic new story unfolds and is thrust upon the character. Maybe even make a slightly different prologue for each school like they did with CP2077.

Im seeing the argument alot that Ciri is way too OP to be the main character, which im not really getting. The books and the entirety of the Witcher 3 game is Geralt and Yennefer trying to save Ciri from everyone and everything, including herself. Besides her world jumping and teleportatiom abilities she has no true control over her powers. Sure in the last battle she was nuking the Wild Hunt in one hit but thats because it was a fight to the death/everything on the line/everyone she loves is about to die situation. Her powers are highly linked to her mental/emotional state. Shes not OP like that all the time and still has little to no control over her true powers by the end of the game. In the book she actually loses her ability to use magic properly which i think would be a really interesting avenue to explore in lieu of her not being able to drink Witcher potions and do Witcher specific abilities. Side note, by the end of the books she obtains a cat school medallion from someone so still wondering if the lynx medallion is foreshadowing her involvement at the very least.

Not the same ambiance, not the same mood, not the same humour, not the same relationships, not the same activities : not the same universe even if it takes place in the same world. So for me, they should bring Geralt back because they have no other choice. They can also make Ciri appear of course, use her in the same way in The Witcher III even use her a bit more maybe, even if she is far too overpowered to be a real protagonist. The way they want to release all in a six years delay seems a bit worrying for some aspects such as the writing, which was the greatest advantage of The Witcher III.

I really hope they go for the "create your own character" route. The Witcher 3 was a great closing story for Geralt, so i'd rather not have him as a protagonist. I'd say it was a great closing story for Ciri too, she finally has no pursuers and can live her life as a witcher as she always wanted to (if we go by that ending canonically). Pretty much it covered almost every book character: The Wild Hunt, Regis, Dijkstra, Crach an Craite etc. Now, if we have to follow newly made up stories (possibly with returning characters), i can see the opportunity to give players the chance to create their own witcher.

We’ll see what they pull off. I’m sure it’ll be big press//highly regarded. But cdpr kinda missed their window. Witcher 3 was like a once every 5-10 year game. It was such a definitive experience that except for 1 or two titles it was the only thing worth returning to for a long while. Really had a grip on me. I’m not sure how to put it exactly but Baldurs gate 3 finally put the wick out on that candle for me. Literally up until BG3 came out, the thought of another Witcher 3 playthrough was always rolling around my head. I just love the world so much. Now post BG3 I just can’t see going back really anymore. So idk, they’ve kinda blown a bunch of public interest I think. It’s just been too long

straight up, i don't want Ciri to be a witcher, or the main character of a witcher title. She's special in her own right, but her story is linked with Geralts. I would rather we had a completely different Protagonist. My reasons revolve around certain points 1. It allows for more creative freedom. This includes with Characters surrounding the protagonist, as you won't need the past cast to return, however they could always make cameos such as Ciri could appear with Geralt at some point, but be in backseat role instead of supporting cast. 2. The Story can focus on different parts of the world, Perhaps the far north or south. I enjoyed the Blood and Wine expansion and i'm more than excited to play in the more southern regions that are French, or possible Spaniard/Portuguese/Italian themed. We've had western european influences and Eastern influences but fairly little in terms of Scandinavian and Mediterranean themed places. Before someone says it, the Skellige Isles are more based on Irish/Scottish and Anglo-Saxon like traits instead of full scandi flavor, even though there are similarities between the cultures. 3. I think Ciri and Geralts story ended well. it should stay there where it is. Where a new game could take place after the pseudo - 2nd conjunction of spheres, or possibly prior to the events of witcher 1. I think a similar idea to a prequel would be a series based around Vesemir's early years, as you have plenty of references to him through characters in the games, with a notable exception being his possible former love interest at the auction house in the wild hunt. I agree a lot with the views of CDPR that Geralt is done, but to me this should include Ciri, Yennifer and Triss. Having a new MC with a different region could lead to greater possibilities and massive lore-dumps. i always enjoyed reading the journal and bestiary pages for info on the world and i think myself and plenty of others would love to learn about all the other places in the world of the Witcher. A new character more specifically with a feline(lynx in this case) influence could lead us towards elvish influence as the school of the cat had elven mages/witches help with the original trial of the grasses, and something similar could be here for a failing lynx school, similar to the wolf school, where it's on it's last legs.

Not sure if it has been said but there is already a TTRPG by R. Talsorian Game whom CDPR works with to ensure lore is accurate and consistent. I help run a Conan Exiles RP server with a dice system that is based on it. The TTRPG has been out for a few years now but has been put on hold until the trilogy is closer to launch that way they can make sure the lore is consistent with what CDPR releases. It is an interesting game with some unique approaches to game balancing. I hope we get more content or at least a DLC with the Witcher Remake.

Cyberpunk in its current state and Phantom Liberty are coming close to the quality of the Witcher 3 + DLCs. Cyberpunk is a great example of what can be done if there's time. The release was rushed and always needed 3 years after release to finish it. I hope CDPR doesn't put too much energy in that multiplayer game. There's a huge thirst for great single player games and games are the most fun if you can play them without all the other assholes.

Finally ! This entire time I’ve been saying why don’t games just use the same assets and maps for their sequels so that games can bang out faster but still have some new features, stories, etc. So they say this is what they’re going to do with Witcher 5 and 6. Use the Witcher 4 assets and maps to speed up the production of 5 and 6. They’re saying they will have 4,5 and 6 all released within a 6 year span so whatever year we get 4, we’ll be getting 5 two years later and 6 two years after that. That’s much better than waiting like 5-8 years for continuations of our Favorite games. Hopefully this sets a trend among other video game devs! Like I would love if gta 5 map had like 2 or 3 other games based off it. Or red dead. Add a couple new little areas. Work on making all buildings interiors or most buildings interiors explorable. Add more customization to the characters. Bring back dating like San Andreas and food/eating weight gain muscle gain, gyms like gta San Andreas to gta 5 map and new story. Ciri is overpowered for a full game. I'm absolutely sure, she will not be the main protagonist of the next witcher game. Geralt also had his ending. The most likely scenario is that it will take place on a completelely new part of the continent (Kovir?) and the school is a brand new one. The character most likely will be generated like V in the Cyberpunk.

A character creator would be dope, but they’d need to go ham on hiring voice actors. I think the reason witcher has been so good has been the narrative side. If our MC is a mute or just has a few lines it would ruin it.

I do not think that Ciri will be the main protagonist because I've read all the books the school of the links has never existed and series main job was to restore balanced to the world in the books. It would make no sense to make all these altercations the story one it could lose a lot of fan-base and two sometimes the story should be changed but thats my opinion.

Wow. I'm excited.. That swordsman movements were fluid as hell, if that was a mocap session. Hopefully that translates to the game. Sounds like they will use the framework of the first witcher game for the other 2. Hopefully they won't pull a Cyberpunk 2077 again.

I really hope they manage to make the game look and feel as authentic as the red engine, better. Every game made on unreal looks and feels nearly the same to me. So many companies using that engine has made gaming stale to me. I do believe that the controls will have a complete overhaul however, that will be nice. Overall i def have faith they will more than come through. Its really the only thing i am looking forward to besides more elden ring.

i really hope we either play as Geralt or get to make our own character. Ciri, from a lore perspective, is basically unplayable. she's just too strong. with her abilities, it wouldn't make any sense to do *anything* because she's just canonically too overpowered to struggle. i mean, she can fucking jump worlds. there's no scenario where a game with her as the main character would make sense. on top of that, it would totally bypass the whole point of the Witcher games, because we wouldn't be playing a witcher. it would remove like half of all the gameplay features people love so much, like signs, mutagens, mutations, potions and decoctions, and so on. it just wouldn't make any sense. 100% of why i played the other Witcher games was for Geralt, and for the *witcher* gameplay. i won't even lie, if Ciri is the main character, i literally won't play it.

I think school of the Lynx is a silly concept. A lynx is no more frightening or bigger than a house cat. This compared to wolves and griffins is just goofy in my opinion. A larger more fierce animal would be better. Also I personally dont like the idea of playing as Ciri. Honestly I would take Geralt again 100 percent over ANY alternative. An older, greying, tough ad nails and gruff Geralt with all the scars and trauma from his past makes him even better than ever in my opinion. Allow him to close his story in a more definitive way that suits his character. I also think that churning out 3 Witcher games in 6 years while using the same assets as the 1st in the saga for all 3 will destroy and cheapen the series. Fast food game production always ultimately sucks, but a story and universe as rich and in depth as Witcher will suffer much more from it than a typical FPS or Survival Horror would. If we have go introduce a new Witcher then allow us to play a younger up and coming Witcher following in the footsteps of the older and wiser ones that came before like Geralt or Vesimer.

I really hope that Ciri is NOT the protagonist. She is NOT a Witcher, she is a witcher-mage trained monster hunter (in case the player chose that ending)... And with her other powers, she is just OP.
