Most of the info in this vid comes from "A Grain of Truth", a short story in "The Last Wish" Suggested Reading Order for the Witcher Books: The Last Wish Sword of Destiny Blood of Elves Time of Contempt Baptism by Fire Tower of the Swallow Lady of the Lake Season of Storms
@brimstonesulfur50134 жыл бұрын
CivilizationEx when does season of storms take place
@CoolGuyJ844 жыл бұрын
@@brimstonesulfur5013 It's a midquel, taking place after most of the short stories in The Last Wish book, except for "The Witcher" short story (where Geralt removes the Striga curse from a princess) and its aftermath. But it is still recommended to read it last because the epilogue for that book is basically epilogue for the entire saga (so if you read it in advance, you'll be spoiled the ending for The Lady of the Lake book). So basically like CivilizationEx stated above, read in publication order.

The Witcher s1 was missing a sense of world building. It would have been better if they used S1 as a bunch of short stories, getting to know the lay of the land and players on the board, which I felt was lacking in the show

4:09 & that frog prince was in Witcher 3. Of course a Fd up Dark twisted version Witcher style LOL This is why I love Witcher & Berserk so much. The attention to details & how some stories insipired from IRL tales & history with such great cares, even in a darker version of it. Thank goodness the Netflix show will adapt this in season 2. Definitely on of my most fav stories in Witcher books, especially with the epic fight in it.

For me, the reason why both of them are so good is despite how dark and fucked up the fantasy is, there is humanity in it, which is a thing that a lot of try-hard writers forget about when they overindulge in the edgyness

What Disney has to do with the Witcher?
@vampiregirl2584 жыл бұрын
@@tylose875 Nothing, but some of the short stories in the first two books have similarity to fairy tales Disney owns. This one share things with Beauty and the Beast, Renfri's story in the books share things from Snow white, and there one more that share some of The little mermaid story. So, to avoid trouble with Disney, the show could not use all of Renfri's backstory, and I don't think they can use this story or The Little Mermaid one.
@tylose8754 жыл бұрын
@@vampiregirl258 I doubt that's the case, just beacuse it uses the same premise as some of the Disney fairy tales is far from enough even for Big D to accuse them of something. If using similar premise was a problem, then Witcher 3 wouldn't have a ton of references to popular fairy tales. Netlix omitted this story simply because they tried to fit two books into one 8-episode season, and it's highly possible that they will appear in next seasons looking at how they already messed with the timeline.
@tomosprey84 жыл бұрын
They can't get in trouble for it for the same reason disney and marvel cant sue anyone over use of loki and thor. They are characters of mythology and folklore therefor they are public domain. All of disneys characters are ripped off from other cultures. Beauty snd and the beast was written by a french novelist before Walt Disney was born. So beauty and the beast is public domain and safe for you, me or anyone to use
