*A Brief Note on Canon:* Strictly speaking, canon for this universe is based solely on what the author has written or said. This includes the 5 main novels and 3 books of short stories, along with interviews and other writings like Dynasties, which contains his notes on certain royal families. And while canon on this Channel will be similar, there will be some exceptions. So below I have outlined exactly what is considered Witcher canon for Civilization Ex. Primary Canon: This will be the main source of information for all videos. Almost all the information given will be from these sources. Short Stories - The Last Wish Sword of Destiny Season of Storms Main Novels - Blood of Elves Time of Contempt Baptism by Fire Tower of the Swallow Lady of the Lake Other - Andrzej Sapkowski Interviews Assorted Andrzej Sapkowski Writings like "Dynasties" Secondary Canon: This will be from other books, non-netflix shows and movies, roleplay games and comics, written by authors other than Andrzej Sapkowski. These sources will only occasionally be used, and only when there is very little information about a certain topic. For example, almost no information exists about Werebbubbs in Primary Canon, so some minor points about them are taken from secondary sources. In the rare occasion when Secondary canon is used, I will say or write qualifying words like "maybe" or "possibly". These words indicate that the information is not from a primary source and therefore cannot be considered 100% accurate. Tertiary Canon: This will be from the CD Projekt Red games. These sources will almost never be used, however many of the drawings in these videos will be based on the games, though they will usually be blended with book descriptions. For example, Dandelion's look is based on the games, but his hair color is from the books. The Witcher The Witcher 2 The Witcher 3 All Expansions and DLCs Gwent Trading Card Game Thronebreaker TV Canon: The Netflix shows and movies will never be used as sources in these videos, UNLESS the title specifically says it will. For example, with every new season of the Witcher show I will make a season recap based on the last season which will exclusively feature show canon material.

What is a Canon

The degree of canonicity of a source is the amount of trust one should put in the information of the source about the topic. For example, in the above case Civilization Ex considers the books to be canon to The Witcher, with a high degree of canonicity. However, when it comes to the games, while you can use them to learn about the Witcher, their low degree of canonicity means that here any disagreement between the books and the games will be resolved in favour of the books - they are more canonical than the games despite both being canon to the Witcher In another example, the books of Matthew and Luke are both part of the Bible canon, to a very high degree of canonicity, but the Maccabees have disagreement over whether they are canon at all between most Protestant branches and Catholicism and some Orthodox branches, and the Book of Mormon is considered to not be canon

Suggested Reading Order for the Witcher Books: The Last Wish *Season of Storms Sword of Destiny Blood of Elves Time of Contempt Baptism of Fire Tower of the Swallow Lady of the Lake *Season of Storms *Most of the events in Season of Storms happen around the time of the Last Wish, so you can read it as the second book if you want. However the Epilogue of SoS takes place after the events of all the books and reveals some interesting information. And since the main story in SoS is not integral to the main plot of the other books it is also acceptable to read it last.

I am glad we did get a season two and we have the Jolly Good Bard back into action as the Witcher and he made an iconic duo even more iconic than the allmighty shrek unironically I hope we see the vampiric parasite species in this season

The Brocolon Forest was an important moment between Geralt and Ciri, but it is the most useless part of season one. Maybe don’t put so much focus on a character who wasn’t a central character in the books. Also why does a dragon, that has fire breath, wings, claws, teeth, and a huge body need body guards. Furthermore why isn’t Yennefer using magic in that fight, and where did she learn to use a sword?
