I think Renfri might be the first women Geralt truly felt something with, this music suggests that, too beautiful of a theme was put into their interactions for it to have meant nothing to him. He even says her name in his sleep constantly later in the season, presumably years after the fact, he says her name along with Yennefer’s...that’s saying something.

(spoiler) He says her name in sleep in episode three too, which is about 15 year later since episode 1. And whole Geralt's line in episode 3 refers to episode 1 - "Monster"-princess with bad destiny, trying to help her, neck injury, etc. Btw he still wear her brooch and since episode 4 he has attached the brooch on his sword.

Niketes Ambrosios de la Grece, I did not notice that...she really did have a big impact on him...15 years later and he carries her brooch on him, sees her in his dreams, calls her name when he’s sleeping, and when he’s poisoned at the end of the season and is tripping out, he calls for Renfri and Yennefer...

@hammertapping she didn't choose to die yes she saw what was going to happen but it was never really her choice. She hope that Geralt would make the right choice. It was Geralt choice and he had to choose the lesser evil and he chose wrong. She didn't want to die but she revenge ate at her. I don't blame her that man stole her life and she's supposed to walk away I don't think so.

I think the reason Geralt can’t forget her is that in some way she is his first love. She is the one that taught him that he is more than just a beast, more than just a machine with an immovable moral code. That he can feel, like the rest of em.

A pittyful end for a charakter like her. However, this is one of the aspects, this story tries to convey. Life is not fair and no matter how much you struggle, you cannot avoid the possibility of an ugly ending. But thats life...and who is to gurantee, that you won't end up dead in one of the most desolate places in the world?

I actually find it almost tragic how beautiful Renfri's theme is, as if the theme itself represented the kind of person she could have been if the world of The Witcher didn't kick her around for something that she not only had zero control of, but could actually be 100% fake (The Curse Of The Black Sun). It's calm, peaceful and in part almost heroic: Someone with her skills in a better world *would've* have been a force for good, but thanks to people in power who believed her a unredeemable evil due to the circumstances of her birth she became a dark shadow of her theme, and what she should have been, in retaliation.

The shet with the destiny is pure garbage, everyone is choosing for himself... Everytime unconsciously or consciously, but it's always our choice. All she needed was to calm down, or at least not going out of emotion, anger and hurting innocent ppl just for the sake of her goal.

We can steer who we become, we can correct elements of our personality that our conscious deems faulty. Our behaviour might be largely predetermined by the behavioural and psychological patterns we develop throughout life, but how those patterns develop can be steered. By those around us, but also our rational selves. So in the end I agree with you, but there is more to the idea of destiny than you might initially think.

And as I said before, we may not control individual actions, but we do control the development of our psyche that eventually controls those unconscious actions. Yes, it is our responsibility to properly guide the development of our psyche so that we do not become, for example, a personality like Renfri, who is drowned in her need for revenge. I think we're saying the same thing now. As I said in the previous comment; I agree with you, but only want to make the footnote that we are more guided by our unconscious than the average person likes to think. We are mostly irrational beings, guided by our unconscious to a very great degree, yet... our conscious can influence and guide how our unconscious forms. Therefore it's the responsibility of the conscious side of us to properly shape our unconscious, so that we become the kind of people we want to be.
