I hope he uses igni more often in the next season. He only used it once on the basilisk. Yes he used it twice on his sword but I'd love to see him use it more directly to enemies. I love when he gets creative though like when he used aard to bounce the guy up and onto his sword XD I also hope they'll implement the alternative signs like firestream, aard sweep, magic trap and puppet in some way. Although I dunno if those are cannon with the books...

Non of what you said resembles anything in the books, so what you're suggesting is for them to butcher the source material even further for the sake of showcasing things that are not even feasible outside of a video game, because they ruin immersion, among MANY other reasons. @@ollie395 No, I definitely am a fan of the games. I just think its stupid implementing concepts that work ONLY in video games into other mediums. It ruins the plot and immersion of the show, and does nothing but appeasing people who are dangerously clueless about what this show needs. Again, geralt isn't a mage, he's a witcher. Things like advanced signs exist to make the gameplay more engaging, but from a plot perspective having your main character be able to burn a dozen people in an instant just changes everything drastically, and definitely for the worse in this situation. How do you expect the show to be believable when geralt can just wriggle out of any situation like in the games, thanks to those Op mechanics??

@@jonathan13co I did say I didn't know if it was canon with the books. But to tell me I'm at the wrong franchise is a bit aggressive dude. You'll NEVER be able to make a series the same as the books. It just doesn't work that way. But you gotta remember, the Witcher has existed for a VERY long time. It became popular BECAUSE of the games. And Henry Cavill himself said he took inspiration from both sources. Like the voice he uses...it's from the games. I can see how it could make him too powerful, sure. But there's so many ways you can make it happen without using it too often AND giving a reason for why he can't use it all the time. But that's just my opinion. I'm not gonna push that on you... but neither should you push yours on me.

This is just so sad to watch, what could have been man...They had Henry, they had the budget seemingly, and they threw it all away to make their own pile of junk, forcing the main actor to literally QUIT the entire operation out of respect for Witcher lore, I WISH this series was a masterful adaptation like LOTR, but no, they gave us a complete abomination, no wonder the series is destined for failure and likely cancelation after season 4 inevitably bombs with counterfeit Henry Cavil AKA Liam Hemsworth (no offence to Liam I'm sure he's a stand up guy) but Henry was born to play Geralt.

in the books its actually never used as a long range fire attack. he specifically uses it to heat objects or to mend his sword when it is chipped as a blacksmith would by heating the metal. edit: he also uses it a few times to light small fires and such, not as a weapon.

He's mostly only using aard and quen, igni to heat up his sword wich is a dumb use of the sign it would take too long to heat up the metal, and axxi one time in the beginning. And one time yrden apparently. What really bother's me about the signs is that they don't have a personality of their own, aard is just an invisible force, quen is just an invisible shield idk kinda lame, yrden also looks like an invisible barrier. I was not impressed with the way the signs where presented in this show, shure i know this are supossed to be subtle magical effects but it could have looked cooler in my opinion something the games did a lot better.

They do use yrden, to contain ciri, and it does exactly what it says it does in the books. It contains (or blocks the access of) magical creatures and turns the incorporeal in corporeal. The signs both in the show and in the books can barely do anything, they're useful in the hand of a skillful witcher but they can't burn a monster to a crisp. Witchers are dogshit at magic, thats literally how they got their moniker, because they're only capable of doing simple witchery. Maybe don't comment if you know nothing about the source material.

Both signs have their uses and wich one is better deppends on the situation. Aard can knock over enemies and OTK them while prone on the ground, let flying shit fall on the ground, push things of a cliff. Igni applies burning or can explode barrels or gases of a dragon's dream bomb. Aard is actually stronger now that i think about it, you can have an AoE variant and eventually you can freeze enemies with it, it has more uses.
