The Witchfinder General: Matthew Hopkins & Britain's Dark Past | Parable

In this drama-documentary two part series, Dr. Suzannah Lipscomb goes in search of the origins of the deadly craze of witch hunts and trials that infected the British Isles 400 years ago.
During the reign of James I, mass trials and executions broke out across Britain. The reason for this chaos and violence? Witches. The leader of this mass witch hunt was Matthew Hopkins, the "Witchfinder General", who is is believed to be behind the execution of over 100 witches between 1644 and 1646.

Not so fun fact: people also accused witches of stealing penises, or making them invisible. It’s so shitty, since a majority of witches were actually just social outcasts, or were executed for political reasons (like them being social outcasts, or political rivals). It’s a bummer, and awful.
