It's impressive how you can evolve through the game without any text or advice, and they respected that, not spoiling any rules and secrets! I've played this game and it's a really good puzzle game, similar to The Talos Principle.

What I hoped they would have done (back before any% was compacted) was do a 100% run, and during the eclipse do an any% run. It'd leave gaps now, though, since the any% run is shorter than it used to be.

in casual play how are you supposed to figure out the puzzle solutions?

the game teaches you the rules, then provides challenges based on those rules. you usually have all the tools to solve the puzzles you come across. just like all games do.

Except when you don't, but that's often intentional. In many games, you need a powerup to get through some door to a new area of the game. In this game, the "powerups" are the knowledge of what the symbols mean and how to solve puzzles using them, given by some tutorials scattered around the place.

From the little I've played it, I can tell you it's impossible to understand what he's doing only by watching this run. If you play the game, though, you'll definitely understand.

To put it simply, puzzles generally either have symbols which restrict which solutions are correct (and thus may have multiple solutions), or the solution is given somewhere in the environment (in which case there is only one).

The sound puzzles are by far the easiest in the game imo from the 11 core sections. They had to be super basic about it because it's sound based, so the area takes just a few mins even on a first playthrough. And then I hear that many STRUGGLE with this area? Hmmmmmmm.

Some puzzles are based on shadows cast from nearby objects, prizes in the surrounding location and simple game mechanics. The best, and hardest puzzles however, are in the bamboo where the line you draw is dictated by the singing from the birds.

Jason Darr Oh it explains it to you like Portal and rules change at times like Portal too. It wasn't showcased in the run properly however due to the runners distance.

Lots of different ones, there are symbols on the grids that have meanings but discovering those meanings is half the game. Sometimes the solutions are related to the environment around the puzzle plate instead so you have to find the rule that determines that (don't worry, the game gives enough hints).

Jason Darr If you don't think the game is not fun then don't buy it. This game is for people who enjoy chill puzzle solving. I personally love this game, because I enjoy relaxing atmospheres.
