The WNBA OFFICIALLY Opt Out Of Their CBA... Lockout Soon?? In this video we are going to be talking about Caitlin Clark, the number 1 pick in the WNBA draft and how she is hated by WNBA players. Caitlin Clark was drafted number 1 by the indiana fever after being one of the greatest college basketball players of all time. WNBA players like A'Ja Wilson, Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart and Sue bird are not fans of the number 1 pick.

I am so sorry but there May be a few players that deserve more money but not Brianna Stewart nor the rest of the NY Liberty. Phee Collier does, Caitlin Clark does, Kelsey Mitchell does, Aliyah Boston does, and maybe another 5-10 players. Every ref deserves to be fired. New training needs to be MANDATORY and they need to prove their proficiency at a college level before they can graduate to a professional level. @@Al_reek Maybe "the new fans because they've been hateful and a distraction from the league" became hateful because players were taking cheep shots, the could be season or career ending in nature, against the player that drew the new fans to the game. @Al_reek
@Al_reek 9 сағат бұрын
@@jameslaughter5183 the thing about it is basketball is a physical game and if you watch sports you'd see that plays like that are pretty common and the fans never get hateful like the fans did this year in the wnba,the bad boy Pistons were one of the most popular teams in NBA history and were known for being dirty players, MLB pitchers will intentionally beam an opposite batter because they're mad at them and fans don't get hateful, hockey players physically fight all the time and fans cheer it on, football players have intentionally targeted another players head because they're mad and still fans don't get hateful. I call cap on potential career ending fouls,did she get fouled? Yes, did she get some hard fouls? Yes but nothing that was blatantly trying to end her career, that's an over exaggeration. Did CC, her coach or her teammates complain? No that was y'all complaining all season making CC look weak and fragile. Angel got slammed on her back really hard nearly hitting her skull on the court by Alyssa Thomas and no one said a thing including Angel. Other players get hard fouls too but I guess CC gets special privileges and she's not allowed to go through what every player goes through because she's y'all chosen one. The NBA doesn't say anything because they know it's a part of the game they seen much worse in the NBA and no one gets hateful because that's what you get when playing competitive contact sports.

Based on just the average ticket price ($107) and attendance (9,807). Plus the current media deal of $64m. The WNBA had a gross revenue of about $311m. That's not including merchandising or sponsorships. If they negotiated a CBA for only 10% of that revenue the salary cap would go up by a million than what it is now. Considering that the 311m is about to become 511m by the time they're negotiations start it's not really that crazy for them to opt out.

Charter flights are $25 million and the total salaries for the players was $16.7 million. Mick, this isn’t 3 times more, it’s 49.7% more. That is 1/2 more not 3 times more. Mick, do you have numbers for the players wanting “TOO much more”? In 2026 the revenues are going up to over $500 million when the total was $200 million last year. So increase in revenues of $300 million but the league can’t afford to pay $20 million more in salaries (this would more than double their current pay)? If the players got 4 times the salaries for 15 teams (15x12=180 players) times $110,000 (average current salary) x 4=$440,000 each so total cost is $80 million. This would give core players a salary of $1 million. So this league with over $500 million in revenue can’t afford to pay the players $80 million (the NBA pays their players 50% of revenues)?

Since they only own 40% of the league, there’s not as much money going around as the players think. The tv deal is for $200M. That means the WNBA’s share is $80M. The league itself will take about half, so the players are left with maybe $40M. This is very simplified. I don’t think that’ll really be what’s allotted for salaries. This is juts basic to show my point. At $40M, the median salary would be about $250K. With 144 players, there’s no room for 7 figure paycheques, unless a couple of the zero’s are behind a decimal point.

The WNBA salary cap should increase to $3-$3.5 million, but most WNBA players are already making at or above what they should when you compare the revenue differential for the NBA vs WNBA. It is just the top stars of the league whose income is too low & should be increased. And $1 million isn't unreasonable, but only for the top players in the league like Caitlin Clark. CC should should be earning the most in the WNBA followed by players like Aja, Stewie, & Phee. But the majority of the players in the league are just role players & should only earn between $75K & $200K. The problem is the players association want everything to be "fair for all" & think seniority should be rewarded over talent & popularity. But if they truly wanted WNBA salaries to be fair & equal to their male counterparts, they would get rid of the max salary limitations for both vets & rookies, so the increased salary cap could be used to pay the top stars more, just like is done in every other professional league does. The players association can require minimum incomes & suggest midrange incomes, but it should be up to the team owners to decide who they think are worthy of the largest paychecks based on the value they bring to the team & the income they provide thru increased attendance & viewership.

Tripling the salary cap would be insane. At most, it should double to 2 million. The league needs to become profitable first and that should be the players primary concern. Guarantee league survivability first and foremost. The TV money is less than 18 million per year per team based on 14 teams. It is not some bottomless pot of gold. Of that 18 million at least 7 million needs to go to the NBA investors to start paying them back. That leaves you with 11 mil, 2 mil for team salaries, 500K to 1 mil for coach, assistant coaches, front offices staff atleast another 2 mil, travel and accommodations 1.5 mil - 2 mil, team medical staff, marketing staff, security staff another 2 mil, marketing budget say another 1 mil, there are building leases, event staff, admin staff. Your 18 million is pretty much gone or your in a defecit again. Any actual profitability would need to come from ticket and merchandising sales.

They need to stop this and be humble because they wouldn’t even have the courage to do if not for all the new fans. They want too much too soon. If they were turning a significant profit then we are having a different conversation.

Can the W recruit non WNBA players if there's a lock out? The replacement players may be more entertaining with a new style and improve the product.

Look at what they ladies want at the WNBA and how it would affect the league if they got SOME of what they want ... THEN think about the fiscal condition of American society and how it has deteriorated over the decades. NIW read between the lines.

Should they be paid more? Perhaps, are they willing to up their game play? Haven't watched the NHL since their lockout year. No interest. Poor player attitudes+bad officials x lock out= loss of fans. The league lost 40 million $ this season, they should maybe push it when they are a net positive. This isn't a Govt job.
