Amazing video. Really sad this never got more attention.

Amazing video! Truly an underrated gem. Having quite literally finished the game hours prior, I wanted to see if there was any sort of in depth analysis, but all of them were a little too short for my taste. Now a short funny story - I am quite truly spoiled on modern games. I tried to save scum a choice so I could give Toad some money in chapter 4, so I ended up restarting that chapter, but it wasn't until chapter 5 where I realized that it had quite literally reset all my progress and made me do choices I hadn't done prior, such as burning down Aunty Greenleaf's tree. So uh, that's sad. (Yes I also know Toad's story literally does not change either way) In my opinion, this game has a lot of ups and downs - probably my biggest critique is just Bluebeard as a whole? He feels very lazily done. Final thing before I stop typing - I have heard a lot of criticism about Minecraft: Story Mode, and I was just really curious about why. I haven't played it in a really long time, but I do have fond memories of it as a child, so I wanted to hear your(or anyone else's) opinions on the game. I do not know if you'll ever see this, but just know this video was quite entertaining.

Thank you very much! I really appreciate it. I made this video as my first attempt at a really long form in depth analysis and I remember it took a lot of days where I had to force myself to spend a couple hours replaying unskippable scenes for the 5th time or sifting through hours of footage because I really wanted to finish it even if parts of the process were soooo tedious. I remember even when I finished I wasn’t even sure if the video was good but I had spent so much time and energy I decided to put it out just in case it had some value. I’m glad that it seems like quite a few people actually did really like it c: I totally agree with your point on the highs and lows. Episodes 2 and 4 were mediocre to me on my first play through but the other episodes made up for it a lot. On the 5th play through though it becomes painful to play through those ones as they barely have any branching paths and it really does just feel like padding in the story for most of it and that becomes more obvious the more you play it. And Bluebeard does just kinda feel like he’s there to be a red herring and cause conflict. All that being said I do still adore the game for its high points that still give me chills rewatching them now. It makes me very excited to see what the second game will be like with a game engine that isn’t being held together by spit and a lot more development time. I do think the lack of being able to save and make different choices is a purposeful choice though to probably hide some of the choices that don’t actually make a difference as well as just make you have to live with the consequences of the bigger choices. I do have to confess I haven’t played Minecraft: Story Mode personally. I’ve watched some videos on it but I definitely was mainly speaking on the consensus I had heard from other people who played it fully. I did play some of the other later Telltale games though and I think my main point I was trying to make was that the games were starting to be very formulaic and without their own real voice because they were so rushed and still using an ancient engine. Being several years removed from The Walking Dead Season 1 and still having on par animation quality and jank was starting to ware thin. The Wolf Among Us had some mediocre episodes seemingly because of rushed development and from what I can tell that started to just be the standard for all their games. But honestly being removed from when Telltale was constantly releasing games and playing it now, it wouldn’t surprise me if it is better than it was said to be at the time. Maybe I’ll try it. But I am glad The Wolf Among Us 2 is having all of its episodes made at once. Hopefully that means it’ll be consistently a great game. So excited 👌 Thank you again for the comment I really appreciate it!
