This song is from her 10th studio album in 1979, "Mingus". In this magnificent album, Joni Mitchell collaborated with Charles Mingus who passed away in the same year.
When I first heard this song, it hit me like lightning. Something about the chords in this song melted my heart. The lyrics alerted my mind. And the howling wolves!
I'm so glad that I have come this far with my JM project. I deleted my old account with an username "cuzandeffect" in 2011. I apologise to my subscribers and followers for my sudden disappearance. It was necessary for a certain reason which has nothing to do with my uploaded videos including dozens of Joni Mitchell covers. It was a protest against KZbin allowing misuses and irresponsible uses of "freedom of speech" by heartless and faceless users who were hurting thousands of people at that time. Things have improved significantly since then and I came back here with this new account/channel more than a year ago. Freedom of speech should come with identity and responsibility like Joni said in this song;
"If you're smart or rich or lucky
Maybe you'll beat the laws of man
But the inner laws of spirit
And the outer laws of nature
No man can
No no man can"
