Thank you all for your support of our charity single over Christmas, our song Joe McDonnell entered the top 10 and you raised thousands of euro for the Simon Community and at the same time made a statement for continued freedom of expression!
iTunes itunes.apple.c...
Google Play Store (Android) play.google.co...
Following the overwhelming response to the recent coverage of the Ballad of Joe McDonnell, and the great support that the song has received across Ireland and the World, we'd like to harness that support for a worthy cause. All profits from the sale of the below single will go to the Simon Community to help in the great work that they do to aid those who are presently homeless in Ireland. We'd love to get this song into the charts, and in doing so, supporting a very worthy cause and also making the point that we are proud to sing the songs of Ireland.
Please purchase the single from the below link from iTunes or from Android Play Store. It is important that it is this version that is purchased and not any other version on iTunes or Play Store, therefore ensuring that the proceeds will go to the charity, as well as targeting the sales to help get the Ballad of Joe McDonnell to Number One in the charts! Your assistance with this is very much appreciated.
Please share with all of your friends, and if you can, please purchase the track between now and Thursday therefore hopefully getting the Ballad of Joe McDonnell into the charts by next weekend!
Slainte,
Brian Warfield.

I'm sure that' as Joe McDonnell looks down from heaven, he is reassured when he sees how the Ten Martyrs are now revered by freedom-loving Irish and other people around the world. Somebody - many somebodies - do indeed "give damn."

Wee in the North not only love the Wolfe Tones for bringing to life the history of our struggle in the North , but for their undenying love for Ireland . While those in the South turn a blind eye to what we nationlists have to endure from the British and the DUP. We in the North turn to the South for help while the South never turn to the North. We need more people like the Wolfe Tones make people sit up and listen, making We're on the one road a reality and not a dream

Beautifully done ..with a wonderful full concert orchestra...the message remains the same ..freedom of expression by Irish people in England is still severely punished financially by the Media courts , no defence as they will claim that all your defence bundles are lost and will side with the English legal team and will bully you and intimidate you if you contact them for help in an Irish accent...even though you are severely ill....it is the worst human rights violations imaginable for decades and not a word from the English media despite being emailed thousands of times but no response is forthcoming..the phone lines are not available and you are powerless ..Do Not Buy English is a media recommendation and sanction because of this crime against humanity ,cruelty and brutality

O' my name is Joe McDonnell From Belfast town I came That city I will never see again For in that town of Belfast I spent many happy days I love that town in oh so many ways. For it's there I spent my childhood and found for me a wife And set out to make for her a life. But all my young ambitions met with bitterness and hate I soon found myself inside a prison gate. CHORUS And so you call me a terrorist While you look down your gun When I think of all the deeds that you have done, You have plundered many nations Divided many lands You have terrorized their people You ruled with an iron hand. And you brought this reign of terror to my land. Though those many months internment in the and the Maze I thought about my land thoughout those days Why my country was divided Why I was now in jail Imprisoned without cause or without trial. And although I love my country I am not a bitter man I have seen cruelty and injustice first hand. Then one fateful morning I shook bold freedom's hand For right or wrong I tried to free my land. CHORUS then one cold October's morning trapped in the Lion's Den I found myself imprisoned once again I was committed to the H blocks for fourteen years or more on the blanket the conditions there were poor than a hunger strike we did commence for the dignity of man but it seems to me that no one gave us a damn and now I am a saddened man I've watched my comrades die but no one seemed to care or wonder why May God shine on you Bobby Sands for the courage you have shown May your glory and your fame be widely known. And Francis Hughs and Ray McCreesh you died unselfishly And Patsy O'Hara and next in line is me And all who lie behind me may your courage be the same And I pray to God my life is not in vain. Oh but sad and bitter was the year of 1981 For everything I lost and nothing won.

I first heard it at the Mayfair in Glasgow, I was too young for the Barrowlands. Although I did manage one in Dublin and another one on the south side of Glasgow which was huge. I remember we could sing WT songs at the games but not any more. Strangely (or perhaps not). I decided to watch the Glasgow City fans during a recent old firm match and was honestly shocked they were singing the BBs. Complete double standards. I remember the late 80s, early 90s before they ckamped down on the Cs, sadly the U's don't seem to be fairing much better even though they have cut out the ss and BS et al.

What a great version of "Joe McDonnell", one of those rare songs that gets stronger as the years go by. It certainly hasn't lost any meaning or feeling. The message is as true today as it would have been in 1981. Well done lads, hope you are proud of what ye have achieved over the years. The Tones are as an important part of my heritage to me as anything else. Number one fan and supporter David Hughes, Singer/songwriter from Longford Town, Éire.

It brings a tear to the eye and an overwhelming sense of nostalgia hearing this. I remember as a schoolboy in Larne, 20m north of Belfast, our Canadian history teacher asked us to do a history project on a subject of our choice. I chose Ireland's struggle for Freedom and visited the H-Blocks and attended the funerals of the hunger strikers, including Bobby Sands and Joe McDonnell.
