What is powerful about such songs is that it enables ordinary people to search out topics in their history and educate themselves regarding dirty secrets that the establishment would like to hide from the ordinary people.

I know a lot of good interviewers, I am a Historian myself and interviewing is a key part of that, I have never seen someone make baseless claims with zero facts at a group of people and then talk over them when they try to respond. I'm not joking from all parts of the world people choose the Wolfe Tones among the three of four top artists that are picked. Like them or hate them they are one of the most popular ever to come out of Ireland and are known and followed throughout the world. I remember when they started out around 1964/65 (I think).

I'm very impressed at The Wolfetones for standing their ground against some terribly misinforming journalists on the stage and the one in the crowd. People will believe journalists are speaking with some knowledge on a subject but those then really are one sided and ignorant. continues...there was huge anger in Ireland over the killing of the 2 kids in Warrington in 1993. A massive demonstration in Dublin took place against the IRA and the Irish President atttended the children's funerals. The IRA started their first ceasefire within a year. The Farc business in Columbia in the late-1990s caused Sinn Fein/IRA huge problems in America,and 9/11 in 2001 changed many attitudes towards terrorism there - now that New York knew what it felt like to be on the receiving end.

As many Wolfe Tone fans are not fools or drunken. This base tactic is known as gaslighting and is a favoured tactic used by establishment stooges and selectively educated people throughout the ages. If the band was not effective in spreading the word about the fractious and devious nature of Anglo- Irish relations the establishment would treat them with complete indifference. The fact that some of Irelands top journalists treat the band with indgnant hatred, anger and hate shows us how effective their work actually is.

I disagree with what you say. Sinn Fein/IRA never got what they set out to get - a united Ireland. Irish America told the IRA to disarm in 2005 following the Robert McCartney murder and the Northern Bank robbery. Ted Kennedy, the daddy of Irish America, famously said after meeting the McCartney sisters: "no political party can have an armed unit" (yes, Sinn Fein and the IRA are one organisation, for those who didn't know).

God that Fintan O'Toole lad has serious problems. He was caught out blatantly lying - 'get the tape out and I'll prove I didn't say that' - and he was let off lightly. Having to lie to back up your argument is desperation time and a damning indictment of his integrity as an 'honest' journalist.
