Audio should be a bit different in this episode. I heavily reduced my microphone sound gating. The upside to this is that it shouldn't cut off my voice. The downside is that you get more Fox ASMR breathing sounds which the gate was intended to cut down on. This is one of these episodes where I'm like "I could just put normal edits in... and not take 5 hours to edit... but I think I'm putting some really dumb edits in that make it take WAY longer to produce." Figured I'd talk a bit about each Mech. [Wolverine], feels a little redundant when you have the Shadow Hawk and Griffin, but it's here because the Mech was illegal to depict for so long including said Shadow Hawk and Griffin that they pretty much needed to put it into the game just to show that the Unseen are now Reseen. I prefer the Shadow Hawk over the Wolverine because of the hardpoints. The Shadow Hawk could be designed just like the Wolverine, but the Wolverine cannot be designed like the Shadow Hawk simply due to the Shadow Hawk having more hard points. Now, there are other variants of the Wolverine like the Wolverine 6K which have way more hardpoints, but this is the classic Wolverine. [Dragon] is my favorite of the 81 km/h speed Mechs in the 50-60 ton range. It doesn't have jump jets which is nice because I can put ammo in its legs unlike most jump capable Mechs. Being a 60-ton Mech means its armor can go over 400 if you want very heavy armor. The Dragon is very pragmatic with logical advantages over its rivals. Vs. Wolverine: It has 4 hardpoints and can store its ammo in its legs. The 1 extra hardpoint makes a huge difference. Vs. Griffin: Much heavier weaponry, the Dragon can do the same PPC/LRM + 2 more weapons. Vs. Shadow Hawk: Can store its ammo in its legs, have heavier armor, and has 2 medium energy hardpoints which allow smaller weapons in the build Some of the strengths of the Dragon can be subtle, but when you recognize them, each one of them layers on top of one another producing a Mech that the Draconis Combine uses as their primary warfighting Mech.

Now you got me wanting to run a Dragon DRG-1C. The Wolverine is one of my favorites. You can stick and move with the Autocannon, then close in and hurt the enemy with the M Laser and SRM 6. I find the AC5BF to be very accurate at long ranges. More so if you go with higher tier weapons.

The hero Mechs are super strong, but I tend to prefer the vanilla Mechs because I feel they're more balanced and fair for the game. The Dragon is at its best when it's "putting out fires" scrambling from 1 battle to the next because it's able to use its long range weapons frequently. It does really well on defense missions where the objective is a very large base, and you need to scramble from 1 side of the base to the next.

One thing I noticed in this episode - and feel free to ignore the following, if you are already aware of it - is that when fighting Igors you seem to aim for center mass. That's actually not ideal as they are pretty heavily armored and require considerable firepower to bring down like that. It's much faster and easier to destroy one of their little side engines which have separate hit boxes with low structure and the loss of a single engine will cause the Igor to crash. This makes it pretty much as squishy as the Warrior, as long as you can hit the correct spot, using any direct fire weapon...coz obviously you can't control where any LRMs decide to go.

I just kind of shoot at it to be honest.

@@GitGudFox I get it. Once you got gud like the Fox, you don't need to aim anymore. You just point in the general direction of your enemies and they start dropping like flies. O.O

Always nice to be a Wolverine. The burst fire seems better but I like the non burst versions.. Means you have to aim better but you do more damage when you hit..

Not a fan of BF on AC/2 and 5 because accuracy and sniping is their main strength. I think it is much more useful on AC/10 and AC/20 where the increased damage and reduced heat of ACBF plays a much more pronounced role.

Gotta say I've always preferred the Griffin/Shadowhawk over the Wolverine when given the choice. I just like the setups better and when they're so similar, the little differences really do make it or break it, as you accurately point out! The Dragon is always such a beast though for it's weight. The speed, firepower, and armor always seem to be much better than what I expect, even compared to similar classed Mechs. I really liked the refit of the 1C variant with the PPC, Fox - good call there to remain true to the idea of the Mech and still give it flare and style. Not to mention that it's still perfectly fine to fire it up close in this game! :D Looking forward to seeing some of the new Mechs in the Heavy class!

Another thing I like about the Dragon over Mechs like the Quickdraw and the Griffin is that it has all 3 types of weaponry hardpoints meaning you can use them as general purpose training Mechs to level up your pilot's skills. The Wolvering and Shadow Hawk have this as well, but since I don't use jump jets, I prefer the Dragon over them both. That's why we have a pair of Centurions though. I would like to get 4 Dragons and 4 Centurions just because they get the job done plus they can level up our skills.

Apparently, it originally had a rotating turret where the mouth laser was, but MechWarriors kept shooting themselves with it.

Did you ever play the mechassault games? I know most people don't like them because of the lore but I played them all the time as a kid and still do form time to time and if I never played them then I wouldn't know about MechWarrior and battletech

Yeah, I played the main 2 games, not the one on the Nintendo DS though.

I don't like those two mechs in mechwarrior, they have a place in battletech, but man those mechs in mechwarrior feel severely underpowered.

The Dragon is really good if you use every aspect of the Mech. It's not a face tanking Mech that stands off with the enemy. It weaves through 2 modes, a prowling skirmisher thinning out targets at range or abusing slower short range Mechs like a Hunchback, and then it switches to its aggressive diving mode where it crashes into the enemy ranks and causes a lot of confusion which lets its lance exploit the havoc. You have to be bold, like a samurai warrior of the Combine to utilize the Dragon to its fullest!

@@GitGudFox Sounds like typical draconis combine's propaganda! I shall not be fooled!
