This is what I used to love about the 70's. What were deemed as novelty acts could have a successful record and everyone would accept them as being just part and parcel of what made up the charts and go along with the overall frivolity. No-one, (except the few music snobs), went out of their way to dismiss them, and went along with the fun involved, chanting the main chorus line.

We didn't know Jimmy Savile was a pedophile back then, and yes, it was good times for us as we didn't know Jimmy personally thank goodness so he didn't wreck our lives, though finding out what he was like does tarnish things a bit I still think of the great music we had to takes us back to a time when my dad and my grandparents were still alive.

I was born in 1970 and used to watch the Wombles growing up. Here I would have been just four and so Play School age. Bernard Cribbins, the voice of the Wombles, has just died at 93!

Back in the day my dad, who was a teacher of English in Germany, brought back a LP with songs from the Wombles from his school exchange travel to the UK. Me and my little sister, both primary school of age, were immediately flashed by this song from our first listen, and from then we played it day and night. Nobody else in our small German town, except from our family, had ever heard of the existence of the Wombles. Thanks for the upload! Brings back my memories ...

i got to meet the wombles in Middlesbrough, they opened the shop my sister worked at after the nightclub next door caught fire ....i was cool about the wombles then i got to meet them and it freaked me out well the old womble did then that french womble sorted me out with a pack of spangles and tudor crisps = me sorted.....

Hi. I'm Eliot Wien from NYC. I remember when Columbia Records in the USA released Remember Yo're A Womble album. I was a curious kid and purchased the album without listening to it. Remember, we didn't have computers or the internet or KZbin back then. I was really into this song, and the Beach Boy style Wombling Summer Party song when I played the album. I still have it in my collection, and as I got older, I'm still listening to it today!

at 56 seconds in, a girl in what looks like a brown blouse and what I can only describe as a doughnut hairdo wanders into view and that for me is one of the high points of this clip, because it is so typically 1970s and that's the main thing. To me, 1974 was the 'psychedelic year' of the 1970s. Don't ask me why but it was. I wouldn't say the 70s was the decade taste forgot but one that health and safety forgot, ignored more likely.
