Thunderclap is incredible. Such a great read and I'm so glad it made it onto the shortlist. I'm so bummed about Wifedom and The Dictionary People, both of which I'm reading now and absolutely loving. Agree with your thoughts about the enduring timeliness of books and the prize entries. Just discovered and subscribed to your channel from looking for Women's Prize reaction videos.

I am really disappointed about Wifedom and Dictionary People. They were two I thought would be on the list from before the prize was announced and had out from the library to read for the shortlist, they will probably take a backseat for a few months but I am excited to read them. I am so glad to hear that Thunderclap is good! Ahh, thank you so much for subscribing ❤️

I totally appreciate your taste and preferences in nonfiction reading! I really love reading memoirs too! I'll just give a props here for Doppelganger because while it is contemporary, in that she's writing about things that happened to her throughout the pandemic, it is actually building on her previous work, and her whole premise is to trace some of these behaviors and themes that are currently top of mind throughout history. I found it absolutely gripping (and she's pretty funny, too) and I think it will be remembered as a book that grounded and understood human behaviour in this peak social media algorithm world. I personally am hoping it wins the prize!

How to Say Babylon has been getting rave reviews, so I'm not surprised it got through. The rest of the list seems a bit weak, though I'm hardly Women's Prize audience material. Less pressure on my TBR, I guess. Code Dependent sounds good but it will be outdated before I get to.

@@KierTheScrivener 😂 true! But you sounded more like a regency era maiden than a gramma right there 😊
