I fondly remember watching "Professor Kitzel" whenever I was home for lunch during my elementary school days back in the 1970s. (In fact, TODAY --- December 19th, 2016 --- is my first time seeing "Professor Kitzel" in more than 40 years.)

This show encouraged my early interest in history. It was as educational as it was entertaining. I am sure that many of its young viewers entered university history and journalism programs as adults because of Kitzel. Thanks.

OMG. The search to find this guy was crazy. All I could remember was his voice, his white hair and moustache and that the episodes were historical. I tried little Einstein, Canadian cartoon with Dr of history, little white haired man with a moustache and so on. Eventually the name Professor K....occurred to me and bang...it popped up! Sooo many memories of watching this in the 70's. Nobody had many channels and this was one of the few 'cartoons' available along with Tales of the Wizard of Oz and Davey and Goliath ;P Thank you for posting this.

Holy take me back to my childhood! Sunday mornings, on channel CKVU-13. The only station that would broadcast cartoons instead of regligous psychos on Sunday mornings, even if it was Rocket Robin Hood, The Mighty Hercules and Spider Man,. They also ran these Professor Kitzel shorts, and I always loved em, the best ones like Marco Polo stuck in my head to this day, thank you for shaking them loose!

I TOTALLY forgot about this one! It was in re-runs well into the early-1980's (when i was a kid) and i learned all about history from this cartoon! It even helped me win at Trivial Pursuit!

I saw this on KBHK 44 in-between cartoon reruns along with Laurel & Hardy, The Three Stooges, The Little Rascals, Bowery Boys, Abbott & Costello, Marx Brothers films on Saturdays.

:) I loved Professor Kitzel's stories. :) Wonderful memories of Saturday mornings in the 80s when Saturday mornings were relevant. :) You can see how outdated since they're using the word "eskimo" instead of "inuit."

Inuit....? Asi se llaman en realidad los esquimales...?

Yeah but I've been told that the inuit find that name to be socially unacceptable.
