I wouldn't recommend continuing to guess words that try to fill in the word you're guessing. Pretty sure the better strategy is to use as many of your available letters as possible until you have all the letters you need then try to figure out the order. Just assuming I have only played a couple times and this is the first time I've watched someone else play it so I'm not an expert:)

Rapid and close would possibly be the optimal 2 chess-related word gambit. Other useful chess words to consider might be trade and solid, both of which can be used in generally good (non-chess) opening strategies (eg trade-lions-chump and antre-solid-chump).

Have you considered testing more than one vowel at a time in early guesses? Like, "olive" would have been an excellent try, even if use already burned i in "blitz". You get a lot of information when you get the vowels.

For example the other day I knew that the last 4 letters were "_OUND", which could have meant sound, wound, hound, mound, round, pound, bound. In hard mode it all comes down to chance.

Slosh is a common word ... it is onamatapaeic, eg 'sounds like the noise' of water 'sloshing' about inside a rowboat in waves. (I have tried to pick an example that can be imagined easily!).

Wordle doesn’t do plural words. Edit: there are some exceptions for irregular plural words like cacti, teeth, women, or geese.

“slow” isn’t a noun though, it’s a verb (and an adjective but that’s irrelevant). “slows” is the singular present-tense form of “to slow”
