Please pump the volume up just a little bit more in editing. I have the phone at maximum volume and I still am having to listen very close to hear you. Thanks for the video. Oh yes start the company because I have done the same thing here in Russia not the same type of company but still is very useful and it will bring an extra income and also it increases your resume.

I went to school in Dubai and remember the weekend being changed from Thursday/Friday to Friday/Saturday back in 2006! How it's all changed...

Crazy!

I understand where you coming from that changes are not common and so sudden , but from the other hand you are in a place that you are well paid (teacher+benefits)not a lot of working hours generally (still)and also student level is not the one back home with so many challenges because of the structure of UAE and KHDA rules.Also last year was a challenge for all of us mentally and physically with all the adjustments,online teaching and we deliver in such short notice .Of course all concerns and voices must be heard but let’s not forget to be grateful and blessed that we are so honoured guests in this country .KHDA soon will announce the changes .Hope they will solve all the academic concerns that you mentioned.

I've noticed some schools in dubai have made their school day 15 minutes longer due to this change. Crazy!

I've always thought schools finished at 2.30🤔 to be fair if I lived in the UAE I'd be annoyed Friday was supposed to be an Islamic day off🙄

Rest of the World* there’s a lot of other places beyond the “Western World” that run Monday to Friday :)

Meh. Here in the US as a teacher my hours are Mon-Fri, 7:30-4:05. You don’t see me crying about working that much. In fact, I still have to do grading and other things over the weekend. So it’s more than that. You just look forward to summer.

Pretty sure this comment is doing just that 😂

@@ThomasBlakemore No, those are our hours. I thought that was standard. But seeing what a big deal it is to the person in the video, maybe it is unusual for him. Our summer break (which is coming soon) makes it all worth it. I’m special Ed, so I have more paperwork than most, especially in a self contained classroom-but seeing the gains that my kids have made by the end of the year makes the long hours worth it. It’s all in what you are used to. If you aren’t used to those hours…I guess it would be a big deal for you. Here in the US they do say we work longer with less vacations…but I’m used to it.

Random question but do you have to be a certified teacher to teach in Dubai?
@ThomasBlakemore2 жыл бұрын
You do indeed. QTS.

@@ThomasBlakemore thanks. I wonder if there are any Middle Eastern countries that don't require it. I've been a teacher for 12 years and have a master's degree

Never. Shabbat observance is a lot stricter than the islamic or christian day of rest.

@@ThomasBlakemore will do 👍. I just cant bear everyone speaking Arab language continuously. I cant understand it and it will drive me crazy. Also i know they cant even make a simple fish and chips like my old corner shop.
