As someone who had lots of stuff to hide and was constantly scared of my parents taking stuff away, I can say it’s too easy to hid things around the house and too easy to find hidden stuff from parents as a kid. My room was not big enough for a kind size bed growing up and my mom cleaned very thoroughly and yet I was successfully hiding multiple incriminating items I should not have had in the house or finding things they had taken to take them back. I feel like open conversation with your child is the best move and while I believe you should check, as Sue said with how Eric hid things and I myself know there’s in unlimited ways to hid things you won’t ever find everything. Listen to your kid, notice the changes in behaviour and talk to them.

Hopefully. Eric’s psychopathological profile was very different than Dylan’s. Sue herself addresses this, but Dylan’s primary motivation was his wish to die by suicide. Violence was a secondary motivation. Eric’s writing definitely points to suicidality, but he was gung-ho on violence before even involving Dylan in the plan to blow up the school. The Harris family face a heightened challenge in addressing Eric’s psychopathy and sociopathy, which are already culturally stigmatized.

It took her a long time to be completely comfortable with speaking publicly because she got so much negative press and attention, so you can't blame her for being afraid and not wanting to be known. I hope more people have seen the side of her for which she truly represents! None of us have the right to judge, because we don't know what we would have done either because we are not her. It has to be hard for her to accept that someone she gave birth to killed people!

look at your attitude. why would they put themselves out there to be abused? of course they wouldnt. they tried hard. read, do your research. dad was military and he did pay attention, he punished his kid, he tried. Eric was a very good actor. very few people knew who he was. it would be incredibly hard to really accept that your kid is a psycho. could you do it? and if your child did something wrong wouldnt taking care of yourself, your family be most important. they are not responsible for the murders, nor are they responsible for the pain. so why would they put themself out there for abuse? i wouldnt either. with the exception of maybe saying how sorry you were that my child did something so awful, i dont think i would put myself out there for much more. they have a life to. they have lost a son, and been damaged in ways most of us will never be. isnt that enuff bad stuff?

he was severely, severely depressed. suicidal for most of his teenage years. sue has worked with multiple different psychological and psychiatric professionals who have pored over dylan’s journals, some of whom have given dylan the retroactive diagnosis of avoidant personality disorder. obviously we won’t ever know, but AVPD would account for the secrecy with which dylan kept his feelings of worthlessness and anger.

So its all about suicide, and not responsibility? No one is denying that Dylan was suicidal, but he planned the attacks for months beforehand, and even wrote 'Have fun' in his diary. Furthermore, while he murdered those people he said woohoo obviously enjoying the experience of taking others lives! Its the one thing he wanted to do before he took his own life. Responsibility lies with both Dylan and Eric for what happened. Its easier to move forward by saying my son was involved in a 'murder suicide' than to accept Dylan murdered those people and injured others, because he actually wanted to. I feel sorry for the victims parents watching and listening to these videos because too much is focused on Dylan's suicide, than accepting responsibility for what Dylan did, alongside Eric, without bringing other factors into it ie change of brain health, Eric's influence over Dylan, depression, feelings of suicide etc etc. He planned to murder those innocent people, and looked forward to that day. Regardless of whether he was raised in a good home, without violence, you need to accept that your son wanted this to happen. He could have sought help, but chose to murder people instead. Its as though this woman finds it so much easier to put Dylan in the category of murder suicide and accept that he was Ill, than accept her son took these peoples life because of his desire to kill people, before he took his own life.
@cellom.9227
@cellom.9227 7 жыл бұрын
I don't think she is denying his responsibility but is concentrating on the topic on hand which is the signs of depression and suicide. If Dylan wasn't suicidal to begin with (for years, according to his journals), he wouldn't have reinforced his mindset over and over and wouldn't have sustained a friendship with Harris.
@suewaugh7314
@suewaugh7314 7 жыл бұрын
Allyson Lawrence In another interview though she said she believes "the cause" of this tragedy was down to his suicidal thoughts and other factors. I know she acknowledges what Dylan did was wrong, and has to live with that pain for the rest of her life, but she still can't fully accept that he did it without other factors/ influences involved. I accept that Dylan was suicidal, no question about that, however I still believe he wanted to carry out murder before he took his own life. He enjoyed the planning & carrying out the attacks and that was evident. I'm sorry but I believe his suicide was one thing, but the attacks was something different. He knew what he was doing, and he made that choice to plant those bombs and shoot people.
@Glosmusicaljourney
@Glosmusicaljourney 7 жыл бұрын
Sue Waugh I totally agree with you. Mrs. Klebold has convinced herself it was just about suicide with Dylan and not acknowledging the fact that he pre-planned the murders and wanted to do it. She is in denial, but I think this is the way she has chosen to deal with it. When Diane Sawyer so bitchily asked her if she was in denial, Sue said perhaps. People deal with things in their own ways. I know it may be infuriating to other people to have to listen to her talk this way, but it really isn't our job to judge. Some people might be able to hate their kids and disown them if they do something like this; others may not be. How do we know how we would feel? Unfortunately, we would have to experience it first. It's easy to say things when it hasn't happened to you. I empathize with her, but I do understand why people get annoyed.
@Chaingun
@Chaingun 6 жыл бұрын
you people are morons and know 0 about suicidal.. Emo kids who cut their wrists and cry about how tragic everything is are phonies, stop using them as your basis for real severe depression.. people with severe depression (Dylan) don't see death as a tragic thing, and when it draws nearer they start to feel in really positive moods and don't show any signs of it at all (if they show signs then it is a possibility of it being stopped) where as those phony emo kiddies will do anything to make a warning as a cry for help, as they dont wanna die.. severe depressed people DO want to die, and they don't see death as a sad thing, it is pain to them and they are happy as it draws near and they see it as a release and they get really giddy and excited about dying. Dylan was 'woohooing' because it was the day he'd die. He was happier than he had been for a long time. He was excited that it was his last day and the long drawn out pain in his life is gonna be over soon. Stop using these attention seeking emo kids as your example of how a depressed people act, those are phonies.

I can see where you are coming from, I just don't agree with you entirely. I don't think you are understanding what she is saying here as a whole. She has seen, read and knows so much more about this case than we will ever be able to. She had access to EVERYTHING. She knows that he is guilty. She knows better than anyone what he did. She is saying that if he wasn't suicidal this tragedy never would have happened. If you look at Dylan's journal entries, it is primarily suicidal. Eric's are full of anger, hatred and homicidal thoughts. The two of them together created the perfect storm. I don't think either one would have gone through with it without the other. She is not absolving her son of guilt. She has come to the conclusion that without those suicidal tendencies, he never would have done this. She is coping the best way she can and she is trying to educate parents. She wants us to detect the early signs that I'm hindsight she realizes she missed. To listen to our kids instead of talking etc.

Would you? Especially if you were already aware that your son had problems? Mr. Harris called the police when he heard about what was going on, saying he thought his son might be involved. I hear you Deeagle & in one respect I get what your saying. However what does it tell you that Sue Klebold has fronted up and had the guts to tell all about Dylan and his childhood/problems, yet NOTHING from the Harris. Do they not have a duty to give an insight background and how they raised their son. When Wayne Harris found a pipe bomb in Eric's room, all he did was go to the mountains with him to blow it up. WTF. I have read Brook's Brown book and the impression I got was that Wayne Harris did not want to hear his son was in any trouble or had done anything wrong whatsoever. One victims parent's met them once, and they came away saying WH was very cold distant and detatched. Fucked up parenting or extremely naive and burying your head in the sand. Would welcome any answers. Much appreciated
@Glosmusicaljourney
@Glosmusicaljourney 7 жыл бұрын
+Neil Scarborough It's hard to say, really. No one seems to have any insight into the Harrises. All that is really known is the fact that Mr. Harris called the police and said his son might be involved and what Brooks said about them in his book. I've seen people saying that image was very important to Mr. Harris and he probably was so ashamed and embarrassed over what Eric did that he doesn't want to talk about it, and what I said above about his lawyers most likely telling him not to say anything. Mr. Harris didn't want to be held responsible for what Eric did which is why he demanded immunity before talking to the police. At least, that is what I am assuming. Who does that? Someone who knows about his son and doesn't want to own up to it. Mr. Harris was well aware of what Eric was capable of, apparently, unlike Mrs. Klebold who didn't pay attention to Dylan at all, it seems. As for Mrs. Klebold speaking out, everyone has their opinions. Some people say it is to just make money, others say it is to make awareness of suicide. I feel bad for her and what she has gone through, but she is blaming the murders solely on Dylan's desire to die. She won't own up to the fact that he WANTED to kill. She has decided to focus on the suicide and it has given her a purpose in life to speak out about it. Good for her, but it is annoying and an insult to the families to say it was all because of his desire to die. He ENJOYED killing people. She either is in total delusional denial or has chosen to ignore it.
