I’ve been listening to this mix for 25 years. And I’ve listened to quite a lot of mixes… I can clearly say, this is the best mix I’ve ever come across in my entire life. Clean as F, technically untouchable, respect to DJ MELO-D, what a legend ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥. Flawless from start to end, whether it’s selection, mix, scratches… name it… I dare you to find anything bad about it. Matter fact, I double dare you mo’fucka 🤣🤣🤣

I bought Beat Junkies Vol 2 (Double Disc) in '98 from record store at age of 14 or 15 because I was blown away by "Work The Angles" by Dilated Peoples. Wasn't very familiar with rest of artists. Needless to say aforementioned album changed my life. Partially responsible for turning me into the self proclaimed Hip-Hop need that I am today at age of 30. Perfect timing because by time '99 rolled around I was in 9th grade & HUNGRY for Hip-Hop because of this album which introduced me to countless underground artists & record labels. In '99 just to name few, Mos Def "Black On Both Sides", Roots "Things Fall Apart", Rawkus Presents Soundbombing II, MF Doom "Operation Doomsday", Haiku De'Tat, Handsome Boy Modeling School "So How's Your Girl", Dr Dooom "First Come First Served", Beat Junkies Vol 3 (Mixed By DJ Melo-D), Blackalicious "NIA", Dead Prez "Let's Get Free", Method Man & Redman "Blackout", Pharoahe Monch "Internal Affairs", Peanut Butter Wolf "My Vinyl Weighs Ton", Dr. Dre "Chronic 2001" & many, many more. Anyhow these were albums all released in '99 that caused me to absolutely fall in love with Hip-Hop culture. Was really Beat Junkies Vol 2 & Vol 3 due to wide array of underground artists from all different labels & regions that gave me foundation to build off. These were albums that schooled me in Hip-Hop at perfect time during my early adolescence which just happened to coincide at same time the underground scene was really burgeoning & beginning to gain traction whilst beginning of end for mainstream started as '99-'00 was really when rapid over commercialization of art form began but I digress. Basically I owe a lot of gratitude to Beat Junkies for sharing large role in expanding my mind & instilling love of Hip-Hop culture that continues to this day...

Stone classic. Don't remember where I got this cd. Didn't burn it tho, ha ha, that I remember. Listened to it way too many times. Cuts and scratches lay back when they should, forefront to flex when appropriate, but really the most underrated aspect is the track mix. Yeah melo can scratch but damn if he doesn't understand building, mixing, and progressing. Ima house music DJ, and the mix and build are all that matter in that style, and this cat is too damn good. He did one later on of old school jams that's just... Mwah! Love, yall

@@doyle5948 a contemporary"band" plays actual musical instruments, each member on an instrument, playing in unison, with skill and passion. I've been listening to hip-hop since 79, I listen to country rock and heavy metal, the beat junkies were okay, DJ melody d, had skills, but I can assure you they are not close to many of the underrated bands that have been around

@@doyle5948 I'm glad that everybody is listening to this music now, you were correct, it's got soul. There are many bands that may not be appreciated for a long time, I'm glad Carlos Santana finally got his props, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, top 10 underrated bands of all time. The Gregg Allman Band, one of the tightest bands you will ever hear. Pantera, without radio play, without MTV, sold millions of albums, they will not be appreciated for the talent, and heart, for many years, Pantera didn't care if you liked their music, they wrote and sang every song for themselves, no compromise, no commercialism, the hardest heavy metal ever, but I'll digress
