"Inspired by a true story they heard on the podcast This American Life, TWIABP wrote this song as a tribute to a female vigilante from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. In 2013, this killer hunted bus drivers in retribution for women who had been murdered travelling alone on public buses. In letters claiming responsibility for the killings, she called herself “Diana, the hunter of drivers”. Diana was the Roman goddess of hunting, childbirth and the moon, and the song contains plenty of references to her attributes."

Ease the babies out of their wombs Make your hair blonde, hop on the number four Do you become the driver when they drop you off? I'll become the driver You don’t take their money, ripping out their roots They found two heads hollowed out In the sanctuary or on the dry roadside This is a duel and she won Congratulate her, send her thanks "How great that someone's doing What many of us should have done" Put up a statue of the new killer Out of chains in the waxing moon Do you see my shadow off the stake? Are you Diana, the Hunter? Are you Diana, the Hunter? Are you afraid of me now? Well, yeah. Shouldn’t I be? But don’t you quiver I am an instrument I am revenge I am several women Follow the arrow from behind the line Moving forward, the night begins We are brave and strong, but you don’t quiver Let’s write this down together Our hands on the same weapon Make evil afraid of evil’s shadow Make evil afraid of evil’s shadow Make evil afraid of evil’s shadow

When you're hitchhiking ALWAYS trust your instincts, check for child locks before you close to door, text someone the rides licence plate number and the direction you're going on what road, do not fall asleep, do not accept any opened containers, do not let them go on any detours and immediately ask to get out if you ever feel truly unsafe. The first part of this video made me sick to my stomach. It's such a tragic reality that monsters like these are out there. Always be alert and put your safety before literally everything else.

Why is the onus always on the would-be victims to prevent themselves from being victimized? In the process of doing so, life just becomes very dreary. How about instead addressing the root issues in the prevailing culture causing these problems to occur? Not saying a perfect society is possible, but it is possible to achieve a culture where these type of issues are very, very rare occurrences.

Heard about this video through an online Pagan periodical. Powerful imagery and stunningly moving. Raw take on an already interesting story. The deep hungers of women, and the victimization of women, are touched on strongly here. I'm glad to have the honour to have watched this.
@bakkermaarten0079 жыл бұрын
Feral Kat I wish you hadn't written that. I did pay attention to the video aftr that and it seems they're trying to cater to the popular male aggressor/ female victim image.
@katd19299 жыл бұрын
bakkermaarten007 You realize that "the popular male aggressor/ female victim image" is not just an "image"? It's a reality- a terrifying constant reality. There's no catering to reality.This is a mythos-based fantasy, showing women as an interpretation of the goddess Diana, as influenced by imagery from modern Dianic paganism. It shows past and now current victims of this male attacker seeking retribution. Male violence against women is real. This video's imagery illustrates the rage and fear in women because of living in a world in which women are not safe. If you are taking the video as a message that all men commit these crimes, you don't get it. If you are taking this video an endorsement of retribution towards men through violence, you don't get it. "Wish I hadn't written that"? I wish violence against women wasn't so historically constant and insidious that such imagery didn't even have to occur to anyone. But for those of us who do have that rage, that fear, and an appreciation for the artistry of it being expressed, a video like this speaks volumes.
@bakkermaarten0079 жыл бұрын
I think you're missing my point dear feral kat. I want violence against women to stop, just as much as you do (or maybe a tad little because I'm not as likely to be assaulted, but that's natural). However, the tools by which I strongly differ from modern day feminists. Who have- time and time again- shown that they have a double agenda; threats towards journalists who don't portray the women as victims, physical abuse of men who question the near-fascistic way feminists tell other women to behave, neglecting boy's needs because they behave- gosh- like boys, etc... I think modern day feminism has created an image that opposes men to women and women to men. I can feel it everywhere all around me: the sexes are suspicious of one another! Females 'need' to be the empowered, strong independent women who can handle everything themselves and males need to be always and everywhere supportive of their spouses, be ever so chivalrous but not too much because that would be 'sexist' right. A culture is growing in which females are entitled to everything, yet not all women want to be entitled to everything. There's some burdens they'd rather leave to males. And males always need to question if they are being supportive enough and recognizing that they have it sooooo much easier than females (really not, it's just different). Maybe the purpose of this video wasn't akin to the ways of contemporary feminists, but it surely looks like that. On a sidenote; violence against women can be reduced, as can violence against men. I think our current societal spirit (fairly non-existent) is much to blame for intersexual violence and according to what I've said earlier I believe contemporary (not earlier waves) feminism is partially to blame for escalated violence, for polarizing men and women. Although violence against women will never compltely cease to exist. It's just that males are mostly physically stronger and that helps the vile minds to pursue their wicked ways. If the roles were reverzed, it's likely that males would be more physically abused by females than it's right now. Atleast according to this National Geaographic study which disproves the idea of the male as more likely to be a sexual offender: news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2013/10/131007-sexual-violence-rape-teenagers-sociology/ Take care

bakkermaarten007 To be blunt, your views as a whole suffer multiple issues, with some of them being outdated to some of them being highly misinformed. Overall they're offensive. I truly hope at some point you educate yourself properly on these issues, for the sake of others. I, however, am certainly not someone who is going to try to deconstruct the mess you just shared, let alone in youtube comments. To be clear, I wanted to leave a comment on this video thanking those involved in making it. I understand that leaves me open to comments from others, but I'm stopping this interaction, from my end. Nothing helpful will come from it. Any further comments from you will be ignored. I hope you can be mature enough to refrain.
@bakkermaarten0079 жыл бұрын
Feral Kat "hope you can be mature enough to refrain" I have not offended you in any way in my comment. In fact, I believe it to be quite constructive whereas you choose to be passive aggressive. In no way is defending my line of thinking a sign of immaturity. However, just being blunt like you just did is. A true-hearted person doesn't find it difficult at all to defend what he or she believes in. In some way, you attested to my theory of opposing men and women. I hope sincerely you atleast question the ways that seem so easy to take for granted. I once did and I'm here now. Take care
