For a one man, one camera production, this was very well done Drayton. The museum is a serious endeavor, not just a money grab. Definitely worth an in person visit. Thanks.

Congrats! Your (this) video has been added to the playlist: Long Beach Peninsula in Washington State. Normally we just only add music videos to the playlist. Your tour of the World Kite Museum was excellent. A great video, Jim (Waite)

Great museum, I’ve even volunteered there. I’ve always hoped for a modern sport kite exhibit tho…. Thanks for the virtual tour.

Robert Trepanier did NOT die a few years ago lol. Not only did I have a chat with him this summer but he had a giant kite exposition in Montreal this year

Loved the video my man! Hmm, Weifang in China might be another World Kite Museum to visit! 😉 And here's a sculpture of a Tengu that we saw on one of the Japanese kites. Heh, you can tell I love the Asian kite history can't you? Ah yes, the Wright Bros flew many many kites before settling on a design for their, eventual, record setting airplane. And I'm happy to say I shook Ray Bethell's hand many decades ago when he attended the Blackheath Kite Fesfival back in the '90s. Rest his soul. Oh yes and I recommend a book called, "The Art Of The Japanese Kite"

While flying a paper diamond kite I made when I was a kid, an old man stopped to watch and he asked me if I knew that kites were used to lift a man way up so the enemy position could be seen..that's all I remember him saying..but I'm sure it's true.
