I have a great way to catch Entei in Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen. I am typing this from 10 year old memory, so please bear with unprecise definitions. First off, you want to save your Master ball for this pokemon, as it will be very annoying to catch him without it because he will flee after one turn. I am also going to assume that you have reached the point where Entei has already started roaming the map. The location of Entei will change constantly whenever you enter a new Route/Area, seemingly at random. So to efficiently find him, we will be entering a building, checking the patches of grass, and repeating the cycle until we find the beast. First off, we need a few prerequisites out of the way. Entei will be level 50 when encountered, so we want a pokemon in the 30-40s in your primary slot in your party. We do this so that we can utilize Max Repels and ward off all regular encounters, so that we can meet Entei more efficiently. Also, it is strongly recommended to have saved your Master ball up until this point. I have never tried to catch him in a different way, but I heard rumors that he will carry the same HP loss from encounter to encounter, so it might be possible to make him fall asleep and hurt him, and attempt to throw Ultra balls. Now for the location we will be doing this in. I recommend utilizing the building that enters the Viridan forest from the route that connects Viridan city to the forest. In other words, the building you enter before you enter Viridan forest when you are entering it for the first time. This route has a patch of grass right outside the building, with low level pokemon that will be repelled from your lvl 30-40 pokemon. Finally, I will be talking about the process of encountering Entei, assuming we have followed the above points. We want to turn on our repels, and a general rule of thumb I use is to walk back and forth one row of grass five times(crossing ten lengths of grass), before we walk into the building and out again. This should go relatively quickly, and you will soon encounter Entei. One sidenote is that if you have a very strong pokemon in your lead, then you won't encounter Entei while he is in the area, but if you "would" encounter him without the strong pokemon in your lead, then the screen will lag heavily per encounter, in which you can walk until the repel runs out and you encounter Entei. Thank you for reading this, I clicked the video initially because it had stared me in the face for a few days and I got curious, and I felt betrayed by the contents of the video not supplying satisfactory information about Entei. I hope I could help more viewers like myself.

Wasting your Master Ball on an Entei? Are you stupid? If we're talking Gen 2, the best option is to grind it out, drag out your hunt for Entei as long as possible by wearing it down with sleep and weak moves. I've heard Fast Balls are good for it and the other legendary beasts, but if you intend to capture it without the use of a Master Ball, you're going to have to put up with it running away a lot (which can be solved with Mean Look, but that's dangerous). As for Gen 4, they streamlined the process considerably with the introduction of Quick Balls, which can be used at the start of the battle before he runs away. It's not as satisfying if you manage to catch Entei in one shot, but it saves you the hassle of running all over the map looking for it.
