Yup the NCERT book introduces students to subject matter ..all theory .. they should site examples places .. (like u said census and other departments).. they should provide real world examples ...we know theory, but we don't know how in actual In India where and how the knowledge of Demographics and other knowledge are acquired, applied and utilised.
