You will always succeed if your R&D guys are forging ahead, and beating the hell out of every part of equipment before it goes to production. Amazing piece of kit.....👍

Not sure if this is it, but a salesman told me there is or will soon be a stronger scorpion that will be capable of using an H8 harvester head.

I think they're revamping the whole platform and this particular machine is just the "scorpion" base, not the King or Scorpion King HD that I was told about that may hold the H8. A lot of changes though, and this is only a teaser.

@@TrophyMediaCo That fits with what Andreas told me. Matt Goddard also said he figured the entire frame would be revisited to accommodate more leveling range front to back and possibly more side to side. He figured the crane slides might be beefier as well. I talked to Brad Brown yesterday and he said there is a Scorpion King in Scotland running an H8, so he expects that service locations might be allowed to pin an h8 on the existing King, though with this shorter extension and likely the shorter roll cylinder like they come from factory when installed on the Ergo/C5. What would you like to see done after having operated yours for several years?

@@GreatLakesLogger Ive known about the scorpion with H8 in Scotland for some time now. I believe it was accidentally labeled wrong and put not the machine by mistake but has been working well. I like that they are addressing the cab, the bigger cab platform with the ergo style frame is very convenient, I feel very unorganized and somewhat crammed in the scorpion, especially in the winter when you need a few extra things with inside to keep warm like gloves, jacket, etc. Im personally thinking of switching back to an active frame Ergo with H8, and also know a couple C5s operating at full extension with an H8 so that's now a possibility. I love the scorpion platform, but would like an H8 but don't want to sacrifice the reach, the slew bearing should be built better, some hose rerouting in the front end, and under cab could be addressed, its a pain to work on them. A bigger cab to be able to have someone with you comfortably would be great, lighting out the rear could be better. Leveling isn't much of an issue around here as we don't work such steep ground like out west, but when you do get into big terrain occasionally here it can be uncomfortable to run. I think this video highlights the normal scorpion, not the King. You'll notice this has an 11m boom and an H6. So hoping to see a beefed up version, H8 with full reach, stronger frame/slew bearings and I think id stick with this platform.

@@TrophyMediaCo Do you have an 11 meter crane with the H7? I was under the compression that that was only available with the H6. I had also heard about the quality issue with the slewing bearing, Brad told me the other day that they've been having problems with the bearing manufacturer. I also wondered what it was like to work on them. I've never had the chance to run one, but everyone tells me they're about as stable as it gets.....???? Ya seems the word is out on the h8's. That was the first head I ran. It was on a 415b, which didn't have enough pump to run it properly, and we worked the living daylights out of the engine. After about a year and a half, we traded on L&L's old 6wh Ergo he traded on a Scorpion. It had a 2012 H7 and we told them to put long knives on it. I couldn't stand the thought of runni6those stubby normal things 😃 It cuts more wood than the timbco ever did, but I've hated the H7 since about day one. Personally I think it'll knock the socks off any similar size and weight competitor, but when you consider the fact that the H8 is only 200 lbs heavier and 2 inches wider, it makes no sense to me to run an H7. We're currently on a job with a lot of 26-32 inch white pine, and I finally got so ticked I put the service password in and ran the top and bottom knives up to 175 bar on the top end of the diameter. Hangs on way better, but I guess we'll see how long till the bushings are shot. Hopefully by then it'll be sold😃 Probably not, but one can dream right?

@@GreatLakesLogger Nope, just normal 10m crane now with H7. 11m is only available with H6 and smaller. The visibility is very nice, especially in hardwood when you’re picking apart tops and such. When it comes to stability, it’s night and day compared to a 6 wheel ergo like you have. I was in a 13 6 wheel prior to this and never thought about going back until now wanting an H8 and seeing how rock solid the new 8w Ergo Active Frames are. I’ve had little issues with mine, but once you get any wear in the bearing and pins, you start to feel everything the head does, which to some is unbearable. Definitely curious to see what’s in store here, and if it’ll be enough to keep me in one
