I've finally had the chance to sit down and properly watch this masterpiece in its entirety. Thank you SO much for making this, it's so crazy seeing Sly 2 speedrunning in the spotlight in what basically became a feature length movie! Even I learned something; the earliest history (~pre Coooper/Cuber) of the episode was all unknown to me. Thank you for reaching out, I'm very thankful to be part of this! I gotta say yes, I agree - this is your best work Ricky. Such an amazing video! So many great parts in this, I had forgotten all about my first time with The Chair 🙂 Gonna be watching this one many times over, in the coming months

When Dimitri says Show me your bling and let me shine you, he means "tell me what you want and I'll give it to you". Dimitri isn't evil, for a criminal boss, he's very patient with sly and is even willing to help the gang DESPITE the trouble they cause. The only issue is that Dimitri doesn't want to give up the clockwork parts

I was going to say “The Black Chateau” is probably the most iconic episode to casual players too, but after thinking about it for a second, it’d definitely be Jailbreak for obvious reasons to anyone whose played sly 2.
@jinclay4354
@jinclay4354 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Jailbreak is my absolute favorite episode from Sly 2. It's kind of melancholic, and I love Bentley. It's also the episode from which on the manual doesn't have maps, so as a kid I'd always get lost in that maze of a map, so I'd always prefer to follow the railways. It was nice.
@gulfgiggleanimations4472
@gulfgiggleanimations4472 2 жыл бұрын
@@jinclay4354It’s such a great episode because it does so many things all at once and all so well. I was just as terrified as Bentley was when I first left the safe house into the unknown spooky gothic prison, and I was just as happy as he was when the gang was back together.

Even tho i love Sly a lot, i do think 2 and 3 are horrible in terms of speedrun. No major sequence break, no huge skip, almost no big strat, huge time consuming unskippable cutscenes... I think it's one of the longest any% speedgame of the whole PS2 (or probably THE longest). Just basically doing the game normally and the intended way..in order..without any way to skip any job..main time save source being death abuse or reset to save few seconds on unskippable cutscenes... 6 HOURS to beat ANY% on Sly 3. Huge contrast with Sly 1 that i consider absolutely amazing in term of speedruning. I can try to see it as somehow "multiple games speedrun merged into a big one" (episodes) to get that more interesting... I still "love" watching thoses speedruns, since it's still speedruning, and as it's really special and not like the others game, but ngl i don't see what's people are loving running thoses games, i hope a huge sequence break but the way the game is made make it impossible

This is easily the best speed run documentary I’ve ever watched. Though I may be biased because of my nostalgia for the game. Beautiful editing too! Well earned sub 👍

My only sly cooper experience was following dimitri in the demo. The song that plays with him and "Smokey alert, freakout!" is always in my head when sly comes up

I'm not a speedrunner nor am I very invested in speedrun records but the way you narrate and put your videos together keeps me fully engaged and interested. Keep it up dude! Sly Cooper is one of my favorite games series ever and it makes me happy to see people still talking about it!

Everyone else: *Does a record run once or twice* Gnist: *Does it like 50000 times the very nanosecond someone either even breathes near or beats his record* That kind of dedication is both admirable and kinda scary, does he even play any other game? Hekksu: SCREW IT LET'S MAKE IT 100000!

I've followed the Speedrun for many years and even casually timed myself. I love this game and the fact that things like this video exists makes me happy

So I was just at the Sucker Punch Productions building in Bellevue Washington! I had never been, it’s really big and right by Microsoft! I wanted so badly to go in, but I was too nervous, who knows if I would have been allowed in. I just want a tour of the place. Love Sly!

I'm really glad for this video. Sly trilogy is my favorite among the big bois of PS2, and while I've watched some R&C, and Vice City speedruns, I couldn't get into Sly ones because of the optimization of using the Korean language for faster times, plus the fact that you can't skip cutscenes.

An absolute great piece of work, Ricky. The pacing, the editing, the montages and the voiceover really blends this into a very informative and fun video to watch. Great work! Why isn't this on Netflix yet?
