I don’t know if anyone will read this and I haven’t even finished the video yet, but I have a personal strategy for Metal Harbor A rank without the secret rocket path. Play as normal, but destroy 3 jets, the one I do are immediately right (jump after boost pad), left (have airtime on a jump between the 2 pads then homing attack slightly right) and the second center jet (stand a bit away from ring trail, jump right as 1st jet goes by and then maybe spam homing for good measure). Then continue and normal, but grind on the left rail right before the final roll barrier. Use the far spring same as rocket strat to get a good enough rocket time to get a tight bonus.

Sonic Adventure 2 (Battle) is one of my favorite games of all time, & Metal Harbor is the only level where I know where and how to get every Ring (found the odd bounce bracelet one on my own). But the biggest flaw of the game is how few levels Shadow has compared to literally everyone else. Knuckles has 5 stages, Rouge has 5 stages (One Car) meaning there are 9 Hunting stages. Eggman has 5 stages, Tails has 5 stages (One Car) meaning there are 9 Mech stages, and 2 Car stages. And Sonic has SIX (6) STAGES, while Shadow only has FOUR (4). Which means there's 10 Running stages. AND THAT'S JUST BASE Sonic has GREEN HILL ZONE EXCLUSIVITY TOO, which is a SEVENTH (7) stage. And that's not even everything, there's 1 stage where every playable character gets a section, & Shadow, WHO ALREADY HAS THE LEAST AMOUNT OF LEVELS, is the ONLY one NOT playable in it. I love Shadow, I can't believe you kill the least represented character in his own debut game.

You don't need to hit the planes to A rank Metal Harbor. Just get a better time and the secret rocket path should get you enough points.

There are other enemies to kill for a much more reliable run, but yes, you need more points to A rank, whether it be from those enemies or rings AND time. Edit: Found out after actually paying attention that you get a maximum of 10k points for time, so you definitely have to kill some extra enemies, like the jets.
