As an introvert who’s been on a couple, the food is good (apparently it used to be pretty meh, but most have put a lot of effort into making the food better), views are okay (I’d love to go on an Alaskan cruise sometime), but there are *so* many people crammed into relatively small spaces, drinks are prohibitively expensive, and the entertainment is mediocre. TLDR it’s nice if you can get someone else to pay for you (but maybe only once). An all-inclusive resort on a beach is better and usually cheaper

@bobrianfo1042 ай бұрын
Most of the crew live at the bottom of the ship where there are many teeny tiny cabins without windows with bunk beds and shared bathrooms. On the ship where I worked there was a crew area and going in the passenger areas was strictly forbidden, there was a crew bar, a crew "beach" with a jacuzzi (90+% of the crew was too tired to use it anyway), a crew mess with bad food (for cooks, housekeepers and waiters), a staff mess with slightly better food (for receptionists, retailers, entertainers, animators, technicians etc...) and a petty officer mess with good food (only for the officials). Only a few entertainers, officials and those guys who sell tours were allowed to eat in passenger areas. The crew could access the gym but only between 10 pm and 6 am, but you also usually work between 13 to 17 hours per day each day so it's rarely a valid option. TL,DR: Most of the crew have a lifestyle that resembles the one of rats during the bubonic plague with a sprinkle of modern day slavery.

I can’t imagine that. I would know all the food places 6 weeks before i ever got on that ship.

I remember cruise ships from childhood as exciting mini-cities. The buffets weren't free but they were such a good value with amazing food that my parents never skimped on that. The cruises were short, after all, just the fastest way to get from A to B when visiting relatives, and the rest of the journey we ate quite modestly, mostly living on bread and cooking food on one ring in campsites. Our relatives town houses couldn't host a family of 5.

Free food on a cruise ship is a myth. You’re paying for it. You’re just not paying twice for it.

Right😂 so many clueless people in this world and that’s how they make their money

You pay for your cruise ticket.....and when you leave at the end of the cruise you get another bill for daily per person tips....($17 per person per day for Royal Caribbean). So you are paying for it twice in a way!

I don't like cruise ships in general, but there's something about the food on board, specifically the buffet that I like. I went on an Alaskan cruise a decade ago and got to taste stuff from around the world!

People love sleeping on buffets, but I enjoy them. My mom hates them with a passion, since she thinks they’re gross and unsanitary, but I’ve never been sick from one! Weirdly enough, she doesn’t mind eating from a salad bar.

That Solarium Bistro had such a cool vibe. It felt like a luxury resort beachside restaurant. I think the area is adults only too. They also had a really nice breakfast buffet. Plus hot tubs and a bar or two. Damn I miss cruising!
