Hey cleeter I live on maui and I am a boat captain out of Lahaina harbor. I also work for Massingill construction which is what I will be doing full time going forward once the government allows us to start rebuilding Lahaina town. All my friends are either born and raised in Lahaina town or other boat captains/crew who work out of Lahaina harbor. My dad was a mechanic for over 20 years at a Ford motor company dealership on the Mississippi Gulf coast. He was a Master mechanic and taught me everything I know about cars. I remember him telling me a story about a Ford patrol car that came in with over 250,000 miles for service and recommissioning. When he opened up the engine to take a look he was astonished. Dad said the internals were immaculate and it was the easiest rebuild/refresh he ever did. The Sheriff never used additives or anything like that and when my dad asked him what oil he used, he said Pennzoil.

The first advertisement that popped up right after they left Auto Zone was an ad for Valvoline! Lol I really like Pennzoil, it’s all I use but I’ve heard Valvoline was a good oil also. The wife’s car, a BMW, uses Mobile 1 and that’s pretty good too. It’s expensive but you can go a long time between oil changes. For me, I use Pennzoil and change it every 3,000-4,000 miles and it’s probably about the same cost, I just like the idea of having fresh oil in it more often. I put 360,000 thousand miles on a Silverado 5.3 and it was still running strong and it wasn’t using (or leakiing) any oil when I got rid of it.
