It is known by a variety of terms...Irish, Irish Gaelic or Gaelic... there has been a tendency over the years to refer to the language in Ireland as Irish or Irish Gaelic, especially since Gaelic tends to now mean more Scottish Gaelic. People can get quite heated about it,.. I refer to the language as Irish or Irish Gaelic. People from the Connemara Gaeltacht also call it Irish when they are speaking about the language in English.
