The World's Longest Flight - Part 1 | Singapore to New York - 17 Hours Non Stop! | SQ A350-900ULR

Video Review of my recent flight from Singapore (SIN) to New York (JFK) on Singapore Airlines Airbus A350-900 ULR in Premium Economy Class
This is currently the world's longest flight by distance (9537 miles) and the flying time was over 17 hours non-stop! The Singapore Airlines A350-900ULRs are specially configured in a two-class configuration and feature only Business Class and Premium Economy seating. There is no Economy Class cabin on these aircraft.

What makes this long trip even more survivable is the different airflow system on board. Normally aircrafts recieve their a/c air for the cabin from the left engine and the cockpit from the right. At the new A 350 its a little shaft under the plane right before the main landing gear which sucks in all the fresh air the aircraft needs. Passing trough a new filter system inside the cabin the incoming air is a bit more wet which reduces dry skin and red eyes. Secondly the cabin pressure holds a level of 1800 feet no matter how high it flies instead of 3500 on older aircrafts. This reduces fatigueness and headache.

It's actually 1800 "metres"/6000ft for the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner as compared to 2400 meters/8000ft for older planes.

Ive done fifteen hours a few times and the key is to learn to take naps. You can go indefinitely if you learn to do this. And you must stretch and get up and move around to prevent blood clots, ifyou are older.

Yeah, it would be terrible to sit in an Economy seat for 17/18 hours on this sector.

Do you prefer seating on a two-seater window seat, or the solo seat for such long-haul flights now that you have tried both on this premium economy? :)

I definitely prefer the solo seat as it gives you a lot of extra space and storage which is much needed on the ultra long haul flights. Also, you have direct aisle access so no need to wake up your neighbour in case you need to head to the lav/galley. The only flip side is that you are relatively far from the window as compared to the two-seater window seat so you may need to get up to see the view below you.

@@VimanPhotography Surprisingly it wasn't that bad. The IFE helped a lot obviously... after 2 movies and some show, the rest of the time is dining and sleeping. Maybe it's SQ that's why it felt OK for such 18+ hrs flight.
