a $500.00 mushroom represents everything that is wrong with this hobby... great content !

They are worth what people are willing to pay for them, it has nothing to do with the exact hobby youre in, anything that looks good + is rare (Low supply, high demand) is gonna be expensive, there are tons of cheaper and still good looking corals out there...

Some hypes I understand (like torches), but never really understood the hype around bounce mushrooms, almost looks unnatural. The non-bouncing forms look way better imho.

The moment Fragbox uploads, my day gets better. Love the channel. Amazing helpful content, beautiful entertainment, and the soothing voice of March. Love from Alaska Edit: so bounce mushrooms are regular rhodactis mushrooms that form a growth on themselves?
@zachpepin9376
@zachpepin9376 2 жыл бұрын
yes just recently it was discovered when rhodactis mushrooms are exposed to high uv light they "bounce" , ive seen some zoanthids and ricordea yumas do it too. The bouncing effect is almost like a skin tumor to a human

I've heard Greg Carroll mentioned that OG bounces are actually much more fairly priced in California.

My LFS says he has made over $45k selling frags of a 24kt bounce. I have a piece in my tank about the size of a US nickel and love it❤ Value is in the eye of the beholder, and the beholder drives the market price

Can’t believe we don’t know why these guys bounce. My broke ass got the bug about a year ago and have been fragging my more expensive corals to buy these guys. One of my favorite. Currently have a Sunkist, Mardi Gras, hulk and a couple unknown varieties. Maybe someday I will get my hands on an OG but like I said BROKE ASS!

I wonder if they bounce in the ocean or just our tanks, that could help narrow down the cause. I always wondered as well…. Bubble tips and bounces very mysteries lol

It’s most likely a genetic mutation, like variagated and crested cactuses 🤷‍♂️😊🐶🦴
@JakeDogg-RIP
@JakeDogg-RIP 2 жыл бұрын
I think this is most likely reason, if it’s true then like cactuses u could have a bounce one that splits/or u cat with no boy nice vesicles, it might grow and then have 0, but when it splits again maybe the new one will have the bouncey bits… I use cactus as I have history growing cactus, but se with variagated cactuses, u might have a cactus cutting that is all green but the plant it came from was variagated, it means it’s genetics still have the variagated mutation in the genes, if u breed it it will carry that mutation sometimes to its offspring, so by breeding variagated with other variagated u can increase likelihood of getting offspring with the mutation… I think that is what the bounce effect is. If it was because of an element such as light or flow then it would be like bubble tip anemones and they would come and go if the conditions weren’t correct 🤷‍♂️🤔 that’s my opinion but I is just a Dogg 😉🥰🐶🦴
