In the late 90's I lusted over the Libretto 110CT, a miniature notebook that looks like a Gameboy. 10 years later, in 2009 our former tenant gave a non-working dead unit Libretto for me to experiment on. Unfortunately I was not able to restore the unit because disassembly was too cumbersome. Then in that same year Sony Vaio P came out, but again I just lusted over it was too expensive I could not afford the price tag of $900 (around Php45,000 here in the Philippines). I always loved small handy computers. At the moment I have the Asus Eeepc 901 in my collection, as well as the EeePC 700 and the EeePc 900. If only the 901 has larger sized SSD other than the stock 8 Gb and 4 GB mini PCI-E nand flash storage this could be my work gadget in the field for typing news and quick photo retouching.

I like the novelty aspect of the thing, but for practical use (meaning word processing, social media, audio & video, the basic things which you'd *want* a small on-the-go computer to do), it doesn't seem that much more versatile than my own road warrior: an iPad mini 4 slapped into a clamshell Bluetooth keyboard case specifically fitted to the unit (one of those generic builds that come variously branded and unbranded; my no-brand case cost $19). Of course, that's a Mac-specific solution applied to a discontinued model, and fitted clamshell cases per se don't abound for the many Android variations. But, as I did when I played in the Android tablet sandbox, you can always find a leather folio case with a slip in compartment plus either a built-in or magnetically attachable/detachable keyboard in a size that will provide a snug fit for whatever model tablet you have. (With the caveat that you want to make sure the keyboard is responsive and springy, and the touchpad, if any, sensitive and accurate. Usually you're choosing based on photos, but the photos actually tell a lot. A rubber/vinyl overlay build at the lowest price point is going to be mushy. A trigger or tile build that *looks* good is generally a decent bet.) I guess what I'm getting at, though, is to wonder - and only to wonder, not doubt - if the tiny laptop worth the expense? How does it edge out the cheaper options?
