After 211 days at sea, Jean-Luc Van Den Heede completed his solo circumnavigation and took the trophy for the 2019 Golden Globe Race. Among those waiting to greet him was the man who had started it all, the first man to lap the planet non-stop and alone, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston. We hear from both, plus the man who just missed out despite a 15,000 mile epic chase - second placed Mark Slats describes his trip around the world.

Thanks guys. Always a super show. Is the world sailing show slowly taking the place of Yachting World as the UK’s premier yachting media? Seems a logical progression to me. I haven’t touched a real magazine in years although i used to spend a fortune on them. Perhaps it would be easier to just say ‘Sponsored’ by Spinlock. 🤫 rather than try to sell us this ridiculous gimmic.....

Got news for the winch turner thingy people. It takes exactly as much force to hold that thing in place as it does to turn the winch yourself. Newton will not be denied.

Wrong, but partly right. It exactly takes that much energy to hold the sail, that is how much force is required before the sail gets moving, the energy provided by the motor then gets the sail moving in instead of your arms pumping.

Does anyone else see the irony of a paint manufacturer sponsoring a regatta series, where painting the majority of the boats sailing, is a class rules infringement? Oh sailing, when did you loose your character?
