Generally there is an option or choice between policy of deterrence, equilibrium and policy of creating a new kind of international rule and law in the context of global strategy. It will be reasonable to restore the natural geopolitical configuration of mutual deterrence (Germany -Russia in Europe; Japan - China in Asia; Turkey - Iran in Middle East and so on). And only after reviving the natural geopolitical equilibrium between powerful states we can hope to define a new world order. This kind of strategic drift can be realize under the management of USA.

"Allies, allies, allies" says Mattis. Let us provide education to Mattis from Thucydides: "Athenians : So far as the favour of the gods is concerned, we think we have as much right to that as you have. Our aims and our actions are perfectly consistent with the beliefs men hold about the gods and with the principles which govern their own conduct. Our opinion of the gods and our knowledge of men lead us to conclude that it is a general and necessary law of nature to rule whatev er one can. This is not a law that we made ourselves, nor were we the first to act upon it when it was made. We found it already in existence, and we shall leave it to exist for ever among those who come after us. We are merely acting in accordance with it, and we know that you or anybody else with the same power as ours would be acting in precisely the same way. And therefore, so far as the gods are concerned, we see no good reason why we should fear to be at a disadvantage. But with regard to your views about Sparta and your confidence that she, out of a sense of honour, will come to your aid, we must say that we congratulate you on your simplicity but do not envy you your folly. In mat ters that concern themselves or their own constitution the Spartans are quite remarkably good; as for their relations with others, that is a long story, but it can be expressed shortly and clearly by saying that of all people we know the Spartans are most conspicuous for believing that what they like doing is honourable and what suits their interests is just. "

Iran is very different than Russia and China. Granted, it is also a very unusual case that requires first principles modeling. Its internal political dynamics is very close to an equilibrium between the Islamist Khamenei policies and its anti American alignment, and the pro American pro Israeli majority public opinion with national-Iranian identification.

“Patience and strategic foresight…” Yeah, those don’t sound like traits we will be able to count on from the incoming administration. We will not again see men (or women) possessing Gen. Mattis’ wisdom, knowledge and stature, because those traits expose the 🍊’s intellectual deficits, and that makes bad television for the star of America’s renewed reality series government.
