What I also love about the show are: 1. The club area where builders showcase their builds. 2. The market area upstairs where there are so many vintage kits people are selling. 3. Some of the stalls in the main hall selling random left over/surplus runners and decal sheets for cheap. Nice vlog and really enjoy your coverage. Thanks.

@@pixxellie You know outside the hall where people can find food, there is a starcase that goes up to the 2nd floor. In your video at 1:53, you can see the staircase on the left. It take you up to the other floors where the flea market would be held. It was not run by the show organiser and there was a charge of like 500 yen to get it. They had people selling 2nd-handed kits and some garage stuff too.

@@pixxellie I worked for Aoshima for about 8 months in 2016. The business manager there at the time was a real jerk, and I was one of many who quit. While I was there, I did a lot of plastic model box description translations from Japanese to English. One of my friends from the R&D department there now works for Hobby Japan (I didn't see him in your video) and he has me do occasional instructions translations for the models he is the project manager for. It's just something I do on the side. I'd like to do more of such work, but I don't know how to go about finding such work. My regular job is teaching English as an ALT, which is nice because the kids in my town are great.

I would love to go to something like this, especially for the artist display room. Getting to see that level of work in person must be a real treat. Also, the GaoGaiGar stuff at the Hobby Japan booth is actually a line of diecast figures by a company called Amakuni or Amakunitech. I guess Hobby Japan is doing some distribution on those? Similarly, ThreeZero's stuff is all high-end action figures. They are painted to that level that you saw out of the box, and as a result, are very expensive.

So much cool stuff! I visited the Shizuoka Hobby Show back in 2018, had a great time and even regretted not planning two days for it all. Especially the artist area was amazing, so much stuff you simply won't see over here in Europe, and the skill that is shown is beyond anything I've ever seen. Last year I did plan on going again, but it didn't quite fit my schedule. But I'll definitely go there again in the future. I wonder if there are more events like these in Japan? I usually only find out after those have happened.... As for Shizuoka, you mentioned the Tamiya HQ, have you been there? If not, highly recommended! And same for the Shizuoka Hobby Square right behind Shizuoka Station.

Thanks for the coverage ! Your video is excellent. Quick remark on Armored Core 6 stuff from Bandai : - One was the Ayre AC, and it's a Tamashii figure - The other two were model kits representing the main ACs, in the 30 mm line. They look superb but they are on the short side unfortunately, whereas those Kotobukia were huge (around an MS size, or maybe bigger). And also thanks for showing the two new Five Star Stories GTM (Gothic Made) model kits. Before that they only had resin. So that Daccas (the one you are talking about in the beginning) is my most anticipated model kit of the year. Oh by the way, did Wave have no stands ?

Votoms just celebrated the 40th anniversary last year so a lot of those previously announced kits are just now hitting the stores, hence the added publicity. The manufacturer booths are nice, but the main attraction is really the modeler club tables in the other hall. Clubs from all over Japan (and also a few from other countries) show off their builds just for the fun of it without any contests or judging to get in the way and the level of builds on display is always amazing.

Structure Arts are not Kotobukiya. They're from Square Enix, it a spin off of their other line that did Front Mission's wanzers. I'm very wary of the line because Square expects a premium for them but they come in the box only molded in plastic gray color, no color parts whatsoever. Also Bandai did have Armored Core model kits. You didn't notice them because they were fully painted. Steel Haze and Nightfall were the two ACs that are model kits under the 30 Minute Mission line as a collaboration between 30MM and AC.

Have you ever built any Hasegawa Macross kits? Macross is my favourite anime franchise, but I've never built a kit from it. I'm only a year into model building and I've pretty much only stuck with Bandai. Unfortunately Bandai doesn't currently produce a kit based on the classic VF-1 from the original Macross. P.S that blue mecha you liked was Max's Queadlunn Rau from the DYRL movie. It looks so different because it is a machine from the alien race. Also comes in red and green.

Great info. Not sure why Votoms is so hot this year. It's a solid franchise but not worth so many brands doing it at the same time.

Hey! Ty for the super! if you're talking about the vintage 1988 Char's counter attack Geara Doga, and it's new in the box, thats a solid deal. They usually go for about $40 USD new.
